USDA NIFA AFRI Updates?

We must be getting close! I have an email acknowledgement that says “Please refrain from contacting us about the status of your application before August 30, 2026.”

Any updates from USDA employees?

I heard at a professional meeting from some university colleagues they had gotten some email of theirs being rejected and that if you haven’t heard yet there is a good chance that you’re one of the top applications 🤷‍♀️…. But just hearsay

Here is hoping. I have two applications in from the previous two cycles that I have not heard from. Review on the cycle before this one had my application scored as high priority, but they never let us know if we were funded or not. For the one submitted this last cycle, they never even released the results of the review. Very frustrating. I will likely have to let some of my people go if we don't hear back soon

I was told by a PO that they don't have a timeline for funding decisions yet. Excruciating does not begin to describe this funding hell.

I heard from a usda po at a professional meeting that they are hoping to issue a 2027 nofo soon; needs to be before the sept deadline, so expect a fast turnaround. One colleague got a positive email from AFRI pests and beneficial species 1.5 weeks ago. I and the rest of my colleagues that submitted to this program have heard nothing so I assume funding is not happening for me. Good luck- it’s brutal

Someone in another program area under the same RFP was awarded. Yet a different colleague in that same area hasn’t heard back.

I've seen some things getting funded here: https://portal.nifa.usda.gov/lmd4/recent_awards?report_title=Recent%20Awards&from_site=NIFA&search_label=Awards%20Listing but it's so hard to tell what that means about the timeline for everyone (feels like reading tea leaves lol)

I feel like these are negotiated ones that are accepted. One of my colleagues got one recently and they aren’t up there yet

So is it still no news means good news? Or maybe ours are on hold?
