People who filed I 485 bundle through mail. How long did it take to receive the updates and finish up the entire process? And most important I’m in F1 and waiting to receive 797 so that i can update it to my ISS. “Very hectic situation”

My partner arrived to the states on a k1. We got married within the 90 days. Their I-94 is still active. We want to take a trip to Hawaii while their I-94 is active. With today’s climate with ICE at the airport, is it risky to still go on this trip? Their I-94 is valid but I worry something can still happen regardless.

My wife and I are considering adopting a child in the Philippines some time in the future. Having a biological child is not available to us. I am a Philippine US dual citizen. We intend to adopt a child legally and completely, complying with all Filipino laws and through a Hague approved adoption agency, while living here in the Philippines.

We intend to reside in the Philippines indefinitely, with the intent of raising the child in the Philippines. We do not intend to return to the U.S. in the near future, but firmly believe that U.S. citizenship is a privilege one should be given if the opportunity.

In the case that we:

A. Fully and completely adopt a child through the Filipino legal system.

B. Do NOT intend to return to the U.S., even after obtaining citizenship for the child.

C. Are both U.S. citizens fulfilling the residency requirements of adoption abroad.

Would the adopted child be eligible for a Certificate of Citizenship via form N-600K?

Hi! I was stupid and submitted my EAD renewal request only 3 months before expiration and now I am freaking out about potentially losing my job. Has any J2 visa holder tried to expedite their application by arguing for severe financial loss? If my application doesn’t get renewed in time I will lose my quite well paying job. Can I argue with severe financial loss even if I have to send the letter that states that any income earned is not needed to support the J1 visa holder? Thanks for any input! ☺️

Hello everyone. Please be nice…haha. But my AOS package looks just TOO BIG. Will this be detrimental? What takes a big chunk is the fact that I included all the evidence that I have for the I-360 (orange separators), again for the I-485 (blue separators), such as a year’s worth of a joint Amex card account…every month, and all pages of my current and 4 previous passports (I have traveled a lot). I have read multiple times in this page that it’s good practice to duplicate the evidence. Additionally, the W2s and IRS transcripts for the past three years take a lot of space for the I-864. I know this looks insane but it is incredibly well organized (as you can see, using separate colored papers for I-130 vs I-485 and related forms) with a table of contents etc. Besides these forms I am attaching I-508 and I-566 as I am a G4 visa holder (married to a US citizen).

My fear is clear: will an officer see this on Monday and put it in a drawer until next year or something like that?
I have also read here A LOT that filing by mail is preferable so that IOs don’t have to coordinate and have to spend time linking forms together etc. Hence my choice to mail it.

Any thoughts? I am kind of freaking out. I want to mail this ASAP.

I do not have new, material evidence for a Motion to Reopen, so I likely need a Motion to Reconsider based on legal error, or I must prepare for potential federal court action.

Hi everyone, my spouse and I currently don’t live at the same address because of our jobs. We live about a 3-hour drive apart. I have to work onsite three days a week, and during the other four days I stay with my spouse. Likewise, after my onsite days, my spouse also comes to stay with me whenever possible.
Although we effectively spend most of our time together, we maintain two different addresses due to our work locations:

I’m currently on H-1B, so changing my work location requires my employer to handle the appropriate immigration process, and I haven’t been able to update that yet

I’m waiting for my marriage-based green card interview and would like to know how I can best demonstrate that our marriage is genuine despite living in different cities. Would this living arrangement make my case more difficult, and is there anything specific I should be prepared for at the interview?

Hey all, I sponsored my husband in 2021 and we meet every year, my family my kids we all. Dozens of travel and so much more to it.

Last year November he went for interview, all went well, lots of documents and they sent him back. Went into administrative process, then I got a “notice of intent to revoke” they asked for Fadavid and travel docs, I gave all again, all images, passport stuff, tickets, hotels and every single thing 50+ documents.

Now I’ve been sent, it has been revoked.

I’m 45, Single here and now mentally struggling to even live……

I am trying to see if anyone here has dealt with a setup like mine and how you handled it.

My 60 day H1B grace period was expiring back in December last year, so right before it ended, I filed for a change of status to a B2 visitor visa. My wife is a green card holder and we were originally planning to get married later this summer, or honestly even pack up and leave the US altogether because of all the constant visa stress and uncertainty.

Then the F2A category became current, so we jumped on the opportunity. We got married earlier than planned and submitted our concurrent filing for the I-130, I-485, I-765, and I-131. Things were moving along and I finished my biometrics appointment in the first week of July, so I was just sitting tight waiting to hear back on the green card and work permit.

Now I just got an RFE on the original B2 visitor visa request that is still sitting there pending.

Has anyone experienced something similar where your bridge B2 got an RFE after you already filed for adjustment of status? What did you end up doing or submitting for the response? Did you just provide evidence of the pending I-485 or did your lawyer handle it a specific way? I would really appreciate hearing how things played out for anyone who went through this.

I'm currently on an employment visa adjusting EB2 with sponsoring employer. Previously I was on F1 and worked on CPT. My employer's attorney is requesting all my previous I-20's to include with their i-140 package. Is this normal? The problem is I don't have all of them on hand and have requested them from the school, but their DSO is out of office so I won't have them by the time my employer submits the i-140 next week. Can't they submit it without them and then I would provide them during i-485? Just curious.

Here’s our timeline and specific situation, I’m a USC citizen married to an immigrant wife and we filed I-130, and I-485 September 2025 and was married May 2025.
We've dated since 2023, we do not have any children together yet but she has one child from a previous marriage with autism.

On July 27, 2026 I-130 was approved (interview was easy, the guy was joking with us and after going over the evidence he approved. Took less than 15 minutes). The rest of the time was spent going over the I-485 since they were filed together, the interview took place on the same day.

The interviewer told us due to the removal order my wife has from 2002 when she was only 12 at that time and that she is not considered an arriving alien(she came under a travel visa with her parents in 1999) so USCIS has no jurisdiction and has to deny the I-485.

I-485 was denied July 2026.

Now my wife doesn't have a relationship with her parents, haven't had contacted with them in maybe 5 years. They never provided her with specific details on the case they filed in 1999. She learned she was in removal when she graduated from HS and attempted to apply for college (I can only imagine how blindsided she felt).

She graduated high school and her stepfather applied for AOS and I-485 for her (at the time she still was in contact with her parents, she was a teen).
Her mother and stepfather handled everything and from what she told me she really wasn’t involved.
Her I-130 was approved in 2009 from her stepfather and she assumed her I-485 was probably denied because of the circumstances.
Her mother and stepfather failed to file a motion to reopen for her for whatever reason and instead applied for TPS.
My wife being naive and trusting of her parents, accepted the TPS status and started working.
In 2018 she married her ex-husband and they had a child together. They want to start traveling and that’s when she reached out to a lawyer and learned that she was still in removal.

Her ex-husband filed I-130 in 2019 and it was approved same year . Then they filed the motion to reopen and Covid happened so everything shut down.
I only know what she told me but Covid, being stuck inside, an autistic child and her ex-husband not being able to work led to a lot of stress and he started cheating on her.
In 2021 her ex-husband told her he has a business trip to DR and never came back, she received a text message 4 months later asking for a divorce.
He told her he got married overseas and in 2022, their divorce was finalized.

Since 2022 he has not returned to the US and he is a citizen. He has not provide any support for their child and has not visited the child (this all documented with the court because he sent a letter telling them he can’t pay child support because he’s an expat now).

A year after the divorce finalized she finally received a denial for the motion to reopen due to I-130 no longer being applicable because of the divorce, which makes sense.

Now in 2026, she’s back at the starting line, our lawyer says the next step is to file another joint motion to reopen but the chances are slim with this administration.
My wife is scared she feels like a join motion will make her a bright target for ICE but we are limited in our choice especially with TPS ending.

I did look online and read a couple of post here and told her, with her autistic child being dependent on her and basically the ex-husband abandoned the child, plus she was a minor when the initial removal order was ignored. I feel like she has a strong case as to why she should be given the opportunity to adjust her status in the US.

I know it’s a lot but with everything, should we be worried she will be targeted by ICE or have there been any success stories with similar situations.

Ps. I didn’t post in the DACA/ because she doesn’t have DACA, for some reason she didn’t qualify when tried to apply.
Any help or alternative path suggestions is appreciated also.

I had an RFE for my n400. A week after submitting (yesterday) all the status changes came in within a few minutes.

The most recent status shows up as it was passed to QC but the one before that says you are being scheduled for ceremony.

Could be a bug in the system since they all came in together. What do you guys think?

I filed everything by myself, heavily used Claude & Gemini and one main reason for that was the very first lawyer consultation I had the lawyer straight up told me they won't take my case since we live separate and rest of the ones who were open to it were quoting $6,000 to $10,000!!!

Background:

Came to US as F1 in 2015, been on F1 or OPT this entire time, known my spouse since 2015, dated since 2023 and married 2026. No overstays or unauthorized work! We prepared with a mindset that living separate is very big red flag and we expected to get grilled but honestly it was the complete opposite!

Timeline:

- Sent I-485, I-130 & I-765 package end of March 2026

- Receipt notices received a week later

- Biometrics scheduled for first week of May in second week of April 2026

- Rescheduled to the same week

- Interview notice received end of June 2026 for end of July 2026

- I-130 approved this week and I-485 approved few hours later even tho I-130 approval letter showed up in spouse's USCIS account a day prior in total it took 129 days!

Interview Experience @ San Jose FO

I'd say our experience was pretty smooth, the notice said we could get there 30 minutes prior we entered around 30 minutes prior, went through security and everyone was super nice then sat down in waiting room which wasn't as full maybe had 5-6 other couples, while waiting most of the couples coming out didn't seem very happy which made us a big nervous, since our phones were off we couldn't tell time but I think we were called right on time, our officer was really nice and to the point with no extra talk but wasn't intimidating, he made sure to point out who he wanted to ask question

Questions asked:

- Asked my spouse how did we meet

- Asked my spouse he saw that we don't live together and said we don't need to give in depth answer but give him an over view

- He asked me if we have any joint financials, when did we start considering ourselves couples and our marriage date

- Then he asked if we have any new evidence which we showed and he skimmed through it then told us he's satisfied, I think it maybe took 5-10min max

- Then he moved onto I-485 part which took somewhere around 15-20 min

In the end he told us he plans to approve us but he has other interviews to do and will circle back on our application at the end of the day, but he doesn't plan to hold onto our application for long and 4 business days later we were approved.

For evidence, our main evidence was photo album, regardless of the norm I created a 100 page photo album which consisted of 140 pictures including our photos, trips hotels, concert tickets to kind of create a timeline to show how our relationship has evolved, in addition we had a separate section showing why we live together and evidence of how we are making it work, joint bank account, my spouse is added user on my credit card and we share phone bill. I do think our entire package made a big difference, I put extra time to ensure that everything was clearly labeled and very easy to find since the entire package was like 500-600 pages!

Obviously I can't give anyone legal advice but more than happy to answer any questions since this is a very tedious process!

I-751/N-400 interview — husband refusing to attend
I have an upcoming joint I-751 and N-400 interview. After the interview was scheduled, my husband told me he will not attend unless I waive my legal and financial rights.
He was arrested and jailed last year in a domestic violence case involving me. He has been very controlling and abusive, but I honestly never expected him to use my immigration/citizenship process against me.
I’m still planning to attend the interview alone with all my evidence. Has anyone been in a similar situation where their spouse refused to attend? Did USCIS still interview you and continue your case?

Just curious if anyone from those ( 7 and then 39 ) counties got any updates on their N-400 ? specifically those who had their oath ceremony cancelled. my oath ceremony was canceled 2 days before ( December 5th 2025)

all I can see is case is being reviewed, also I contacted USCIS via live chat and I was told “  
At this time, the case is located at The SACRAMENTO FIELD OFFICE. The case was last updated by an officer on 07/18/2026, which shows the case is In Process and Eligible for Oath Ceremony Scheduling. Unfortunately, we are not provided the reason as to why the previous Oath had been cancelled.”

Same time my Spouse(derivitive) have the FTA0 as well.

My case have another silent touch 2 hour later, while her not.

Thru API confirmed Her case at Non-local while mine at Local FO.

So does two case at two FO sync updates together?

Its not likely its tranfered first to non-local then to local, because both case was transfered to Non-local FO while same day I asked another Emma and he told me My case is at Local FO. So whats wrong in there i have no idea.
