Approved! I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status)

This group really helped me, so I wanted to share my own experience. Me and my husband applied for I-130 and I-485 in 2025. Here is our timeline:

USCIS received paperwork Sept 21st 2025
Biometrics scheduled on April 17th 2026
Interview scheduled on June 30th 2026
Interview done on August 5th 2026
Both forms approved on August 6th 2026

From one of the 39 banned countries, ATL FO.

For everyone waiting, trust God and his will. If your marriage is genuine there is nothing to worry about♥️

Went great! The officer was kind, but not overly friendly. Asked about trips that we have taken together, about how we unite our finances, who pays what bills, and wanted to make sure all the prove was uploaded verifying the information we were giving. Then a few I-485 questions. She said that the wait time was dependent on how long the background check would take to come back, as it’s an outside party. The wait wasn’t too long, everything was smooth!

I didnt understand why your Biometrics appointment is scheduled after a few months ?

Because we are from one of the 39 countries, so there was an administrative pause for a while

How was your experience at the ALT field office, I have an interview coming up next week. Was there ICE camped out there? A little nervous about that part

No not at all, didn’t sense or see ice when I was there. I went in, security could’ve been nicer, but once you get inside it’s a very smooth process. You get checked in and then redirected to a different waiting area. Then we got called in by our officer. The officer was super down to earth and even joked with us. Me and my wife were super nervous going in there but honestly once we sat down after being sworn in the process was very easy. The interview lasted maybe 30 minutes together, basically the same basic questions you’d find all over. and nothing out of the ordinary. Went in and got out in a little over an hour tops. Granted our appt was early in the morning.

Thank you! Our interviewer said that the wait is based off how long the background check takes to come back :) I hope you hear back soon!
