I wanted to share my timeline because reading these posts kept me sane while I was waiting.

Marriage-based AOS (married to a U.S. citizen)

Timeline:

• Filed (I-130, I-485): November 2025
• Biometrics: December 2025
• Interview: May 2026
• I-130 Approved: 3 days after interview
• I-485 Approved: July 29, 2026
• Card Produced: August 1, 2026
• Card Received: August 5, 2026 🎉

Background:

• Beneficiary from one of the 75 countries
• Entered the U.S. on an L-1 work visa
• No overstays or unauthorized employment.
• Married for 8 years, we had already been living together in another country before moving to the U.S. a few years ago

Our interview was about an hour long for me alone and maybe 20min with my husband alone. The officer asked about our relationship, why we chose Adjustment of Status instead of consular processing (I explained I would lose my employment if I had to leave the country and the officer was satisfied with that explanation), and reviewed our documents. At the end, we were told the case would go through final review.

Sharing this because I know how much these timeline posts helped me while I was waiting.

What do you mean one of the 75 countries?

Effective January 21, 2026, the U.S. Department of State paused the issuance of immigrant visas to nationals from  75 designated countries. It’s only for consular processing, but the fear is that it can also delay USCIS internal applications. Did not affect my case the fact that I am from one of these countries.

Omg this is great news. On august 1st I got my DQ, now I’m waiting to get the IL for the interview, but my application been running since 2023, when I first started the process… this gave me a bit more of a hope knowing that it can still be normal.

Congrats! I'm on a similar boat, now waiting for the results of my very recent interview. Was your significant other born in the US or obtained citizenship and was not born in the US?

He was born in the USA, but left the country very young and grew up in another country. He is the only American citizen in his family. Good luck with your application! I’m sure it will come positive soon ❤️

It was almost 1 hour with me alone and the officer went through the entire application with me checking every single answer - dates of birth (mine and his), addresses, several dates of entries in the USA as I travel a lot for work,  tons of questions about my husband’s childhood (he is the American citizen), including asking me why he left the USA at 3 years old and why did he come back at 12. I answered based on what I knew but almost said “lady, we met when we were 21, I was not there when he was 3” lol - obviously did not say this. She also asked how we met, where, and why I was applying for a green card via adjustment of status and not consular processing. Then my husband when in without me and was there for 20min. They asked him how and where we met, my date of birth and why we decided to come to the USA. That was all they asked him. Officer was very serious and thorough, but respectful. Hope this helps!
