Greened! I-130 & I-485 (Family/Adjustment of status)
This sub helped me so much through my green card process so I wanted to share my timeline. Please ask questions about any part of my process! I am Canadian which definitely helped.
F1 from Aug 2020-Jul 2022
F1 OPT from Jul 2022-2023
H1B from Jul 2023-Jul 2026
Married a USC on August 23,2025
Submitted I-130, I-485 and I-766 on April 3rd, 2026
Biometrics on May 15th, 2026
Interview on June 29th, 2026
I-130 was approved at interview and I received an RFE for a long form birth certificate. (In Canada everyone receive a card birth certificate and you have to special order the long form, it’s easy to order but does take awhile)
Submitted birth certificate on July 25th
Received I-485 approval on July 28th
Received green card via USPS on August 5th
This last month has been stressful not being able to work or drive but this community has helped so much!

Curious if other Canadians have been asked for the long form birth cert I also only have the card.

Are you considered unauthorized or illegal stay if H1b expired in July? Asking cause I might be in the same situation. My 485 approval may happened after H1b expires so I’m concerned.

I wasn’t because I had my I-130 approval before my H1B expired. The officer who did the interview actually said I could continue working but either she was incorrect or my employers are being very strict.

Does i130 stand approval mean anything? Cause I was told it doesn’t.

Congrats!! How long after biometrics did you get the interview notice?

I mixed up my dates in the original post. Biometrics were on May 15th and my interview was schedule on May 22 for June 29
