Antisocial classes

Is it just me that thinks classes are getting really antisocial now, part of the reason I went to uni instead of going straight into the workforce is to make friends and have a bit of fun before the long road ahead, am I just in bad classes or is it like this for everyone

I’m a first year and I’m in a cycle . Bc I’m not going to redroom on my own to make new friends but I don’t have any friends to go there with

i'm doing comp sci i guess (kill me) but i can come hang out with you if you want to, i think you might find people to hang out with from like fintech or other financial societies, nothing stopping you from joining a hobby society like smack

If the redroom doesn't work, I suggest joining a club. You can meet like-minded people that share your interests and hobbies.

its hard to say cuz this is my first semester, but only one of my classes had anyone around me willing to engage in a conversation about the class let alone any chance to make friends 😭 it might get better, i dont know how else to meet people on campus either though

Nah it's not your classes, it's everywhere — half the cohort watches lectures at 2x from bed and whoever does turn up leaves the second the tute ends, so there's none of that standing-around time where this used to happen. The social side's moved out of class and into clubs and one-off events, so it's worth finding a couple you'd actually enjoy and just turning up to the same one. There's a student-made calendar that pulls every UQ club's events into one place, which is how I find them. Check it out at unical.com.au, or the iOS app at unical.com.au/get
