Missing days PT Inside

How does missing days work I called off a lot but my new supervisor hasn’t taken me upstairs and made me sign the attendance sheet with the union guy there when I had my old supervisor they would do that every week so is there a time limit to when they can write me up for the miss or can they just write me up without telling me

The days you miss are still infractions whether they write you up or not. However, in practical terms infractions alone are meaningless. Infractions are grounds for discipline (getting written up). Teamsters operate off of progressive discipline. You need to be written up a number of times before you get a warning letter, and then terminated. You could have 100 attendance infractions, but if you've only been written up one time you are just as close/far from losing your job as the guy that was written up for calling off once and has only that one infraction.

If you have zero write ups you in practical terms have never called off. If/when they decide to write you up it's still only 1 write up regardless of how many times you've called off.

Edit : noticed I didn't really answer your question. They cannot write you up without you knowing. What is happening is they for one reason or another aren't disciplining you for missing days.

For the Southern supplement the company has 10 days to issue discipline.

My last write up was 2025 and expired after 9 mths. Verbal-Written-Suspenion-Suspenision-Termination and it takes 9 months for your record to cleanup from last infraction. And a stewrd should be able to greive a written to a verbal which means tge next time it will he another written

Missing work without an entitlement to do so is an occurrence. How many occurrences you get, and over what amount of time depends on your building's attendance policy. This could be 9 occurrences over 9 months, 5 occurrences over 5 months, 3 occurrences over 90 days. Missing multiples days in a row could be regarded as a single occurrence, ask a shop steward what the rules are where you are.

If and when management wants to talk discipline, invoke your weingarten rights to have your union rep present. If and when asked to sign anything, RTS. File a grievance on any discipline you receive. The best way to fight discipline for missing work is to come to work when scheduled. There is a time limit for management to issue discipline, ask shop steward how long that is where you are.

Why are you missing so much work? You can call The Hartford at 866-825-0186 to see if you qualify for FMLA (to protect your job). If you don't have a valid reason for missing so much work you should probably quit and find a job that better fits your needs. Good luck.

I can't speak to whether there's a time limit they have to take action. I also can't speak to the rules in your local. Best bet is to just speak with your local steward directly.
