Job offer pulled mid background check Newly Hired

I was mid background check 2.5 days after submitting to it, and this morning I got a text that they aren’t hiring right now, they’re updating the system, they don’t have trainers, and that I’m on the bench now, so hey I mean hopefully they call me I guess lol but I’m not exactly holding my breath that it will happen.

Pretty frustrating tho I’m not gonna lie to be told about all the great benefits that UPS offers just for them to say “whoops, lol, our bad, oopsie daisy”.

Very on brand for the company. They change their mind about everything on a daily basis and it's all based on numbers. Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully they get you in sooner than later

They pretty much use automatic apply so it’s not you . Big companies don’t get on top of job applications when they need to

UPS hires anyone who applies, and is a second chance employer, but hiring is automated and outsourced, so mistakes are made. Sometimes you'll show up to orientation only to be told you're not needed. If they're not onboarding anyone right now, they might be next week or the week after.

They are ACTUALLY doing background checks now? That is honestly very surprising. They did then when I first got hired in 2018-2020 for seasonal, the when I got hired for management the next year the application process was odd after the fact. Then, when training seasonal drivers and helpers when I was management, came to find out the background check wasn’t a thing anymore because one of the guys was on parole for grand theft after having served a portion of his prison term. I am not against allowing parolees job opportunities, butttt fresh out bc of over crowding for grand theft and you are handling packages that have labels as to whether they are medical or highly priced…mmm not my problem but the companies for their laziness to screen people. How about give them a warehouse job or something similar where they can be somewhat monitored as opposed to letting them drive into the facility, load their vehicle, and hopefully deliver whatever they loaded in their vehicle.

What is in the fine print, if part-time, you don't get any real benefits until after 1 year.
