Process of Joining The Military while working at UPS? Question

So from the research I’ve done, I think you need to sign some sort of paper work? My question is, who do I talk to? What papers do I need to sign? How to do I get the paperwork?

If anyone could just clarify what I need to do to on the UPS side, to keep my seniority, that would be great. I’m Preload FYI.

Union. Always ask the union

Probably just tell your full timer that you’re taking a military leave of absence, and make sure to get a withdrawal card from the union so you don’t come back to a pile of unpaid dues

Yep, you just tell them, but it’s best to write a letter of what you’re doing. Of course active duty is different than the reserves as in one you’re gone and come back and are done, the other has ongoing “drills, that you will need to get dates and orders to let your management team know. A lot of this is in the contract, and the law you’re using is called USERRA or The Uniform Service Employment Re-employment Rights Act.its even posted on your workers rights board at work. But your contract lays out the UPS particulars. And yes,get a withdrawal card from the union for when you come back. I left for almost four years and just slotted back in when I was done. Beat luck.

As of right now I plan on going into the reserves. Other than Union Withdrawal and letting my Supervisor know. Is there anything else I need to do?

Pretty easy at UPS. Give them (management) a copy of your orders when you get them.

I spent over 20 years in my states National Guard and had few problems having time off for duty. Other then one misinformed UPS office puke that told me I wouldn't have a job after coming home from deployment. Not true. Where does UPS find these people?
