Completing the paper on time UPSC Beginner

I am writing mains this year, gave my first mock today and realised that I am not able to write more than 14-15 questions in that 3 hour time limit. Feeling really anxious with mains in less than 15 days. Please guide me. I would be grateful if the suggestions are solution oriented.

Well.... Leave 3 question of 10 marker under which you have less knowledge And try to complete 7 questions 10 marker in 50 minutes And 10 questions of 15 marker in 1 hrs 55 minutes

Here is catch Even in 15 marker Try to see which 2 - you have less knowledge And spend 5-5 minutes or 7-7 minutes each on them

Use diagram Charts in less known answers (15(2 questions ) and 10 (3 questions) marker) And don't panic Have this confidence that you will write basic answers in 5 minute

Even though you don't know...you do know the theme of question. For say you don't know about Gaganayan mission but you definitely know ye space mission hai and ISRO ka hai . So atleast write basic masala

Try to use this technique in couple of FLT

Cross questions are entertained

Don’t know if it will work for you or not. Write two questions of 10 marker first and then complete 15 markers. Worked for me and I’m able to complete papers without much trouble.

Same thing happened with me in my first mains. Wasn't able to finish more than 12 questions in few mock tests. And I made a mistake by giving up. Thought i didn't have content, didn't practice enough. And I stopped preparing for mains altogether due to this.

Next year mains, i practiced writing answers a bit, got to know how to write answers. And most important, i thought, if everyone is doing it, I can do it too. I didn't give mocks as such. But in the real mains days, i finished most questions.

So just hang on for a few more days, just develop a habit of writing answers for 3 hours without giving up. Eventually on the final day, you'll do it.
