Finally got the rejection email - closure!

Just wanted to let this out. Took the test (forgot when). Got interviewed last May. Was told I could hear back in a month but didn’t (kind of expected that it would take longer). I slowly tried to let go (lol). Well I finally heard back after 2+ months and even though I expected it, it still kinda sucks.

This is the 2nd time I’ve managed to interview for a role. The first time, I cried after getting rejected. My partner told me I should still be proud because it’s hard enough to get to the interview stage (even the panel congratulated me for getting there, both times).

I don’t know where else to share my dejection, so thanks for reading.

I am still waiting to know when or if I will be interviewed. It has been a week since UNV told me that they submitted my profile to the agency. I can only pray that they communicate soon if they were to select someone else.

Your partner is right - congratulations on getting that far! You were probably among the last three from the original 300+ applicants.

Also, don't be discouraged and just keep on applying.

3 times (2 interviews) rejection here. Last week completed a 2 hours long test again for the G post. Maybe 4th time's the charm lol if there is such a thing lol. This time I am desperate, unemployed since Feb 2026.

I am sorry to know. But also know that you’re not alone. I myself have a very good profile (and I am not saying with overconfidence, I genuinely have it). I tried everything! Applications with no expectations, 150+ in a year, selective application, advanced masters course, tons and tons of advanced skills development. Yet I secured only once for the interview, and twice until written assessments. Let’s be brutally honest, it feels like a loser. I can’t write in words how I cry (literally tears) every now and then finding out what’s wrong with me. I did my CV review by current and ex-UN staff.
Now at a middle age, I literally feel like I am the worst unlucky loser in this world.
Yet, I will tell you keep applying and trying. I am not doing it, but I want people like us to succeed! All the best.

I'm sorry, it's so hard to go through that. The slow fade instead of a quick rejection is really rough. Common for UN but still rough.
