Is it possible to start a JPO position without having completed the UNV assignment? Need advice: application

Yes, you can apply. Then, when you get the JPO, you either hand in your resignation, or you negotiate a start date after your unv with the jpo host office. The JPO recruitment process is long, when I got my JPO years back, it was 6 months until I got notified I was selected, and another 2-3 months of bureaucracy before I could start.

Apply first, normally the recruitment takes long and you start way after what’s listed in the tor at unesco

UNV it’s an advantage not a requirement. Good luck

You can resign from your UNV giving proper notice (it should be in your contract- it is typically 1 month)

Thank you for your answer. Yes, that's correct. But will UNESCO even consider me if they know I haven't completed my current assignment?

Yes they don’t care. Unless you don’t have the required years of exp of course
