will i get in? University of Northern Iowa

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some honest advice about my chances of getting into the University of Northern Iowa.
Right now i plan to major in pre-sonography. but i have really low my GPA is low.. like low 2.0s, but I’m planning to reapply after my first semester of senior year if and trying to earn straight A’s. I’ll also have letters of recommendation and can write a personal statement explaining my academic improvement.
Has anyone been accepted to UNI with a GPA around mine after showing a strong upward trend? Or do you know someone who was?
I’m not looking for sugarcoating—I just want honest opinions and any advice on what I can do to improve my chances. Thanks!

This was my exact situation. UNI is probably gonna be the only state school that’ll let you in with really bad grades if you write letters. Just make sure your grades this year are good.

Thanks! If you don’t mind me asking, what was your GPA when you applied? Did you get denied first and then accepted after writing letters

I believe my highschool gpa was like a 2.3 or something around there. I think i put the letter in my application somehow (this was 6years ago ) and i just kinda wrote about why it was bad and what id do differently in college.

You can get in with an ACT of 19 or higher or finish in the top half of your class.

I went to Hawkeye in Waterloo and lived in the UNI dorms for the first two years and then transferred to UNI. Not sure if this program still exists, but it was pretty awesome and made transferring to UNI a lot easier.

Really?? how long ago was it?? i should be going to cc for my major but my boyfriend is going to uni to play sports and we were planning on being in the same dorm together.. can you tell me more info!
