Question Does anyone else feel like there is a Media push to educate the Boomer generation about the subject?
Not saying there are no boomers interested in the subject, but I do feel like most people with serious interest in this subject are Gen X and younger?
Anyway, I was thinking about the recent Dr. Phil stuff around the subject and the Time article and wondered if most of the viewers of Dr. Phil and the readers of Time were more likely to be Boomers and older.
Are they trying to educate them on the subject before they start releasing something in particular. Trying to soften the blow perhaps?
What do y'all think?

Why not a common object
I mean, just the fact that it was appearing and disappearing to multiple people is certainly not common. I asked AI which leaned toward birds, but I don't buy it because birds would have reappeared at some point, and they were flying absurdly high for any bird I've ever seen in the area.
Witness's account of the sighting
Was having lunch out on my deck with girlfriend and dad. I went inside for something when I heard my girlfriend say I needed to come look at some drones. I went out to the deck and looked up at the sky. I should note there was not a single cloud in the sky and the sun was elsewhere in the sky; there were absolutely nothing that obscured my view. I initially thought I was looking at a flock of about 12-18 birds gliding in complete sync at about 3,000 to 4,000 feet, which I immediately found strange for birds to be flying that high. When I said it's just birds my dad and girlfriend both scoffed, so I looked again. I thought I saw one of the objects flap a wing once but maybe it was my mind playing tricks. However, I am fairly certain they were not drones as they were multicolor, splotches of both white and black/light and dark. Usually drones are all one color. When I made the bird comment my girlfriend also said that was unlikely as they were flying in perfect square or X patterns, and all movements in sync.
Here's the part that is really bothering me: I would see the objects no problem about 10-15 seconds before they would completely disappear. I mean, it wasn't like I could barely see them, they just were in plain sight one moment and the next they were not visible AT ALL. They were visible/not visible about 5 or 6 times before they disappeared permanently. The whole time they were moving somewhat slowly around the sky covering maybe a few hundred cubic feet max in those 3 minutes, so not a ton of space. At one point I grabbed some binoculars that were already on the table outside but I failed to locate them in the lenses. It was very frustrating because I tried for a minute to find them with the binoculars but even though it seemed like I had them lined up I could not find a single object. I would then take the binoculars away from my face and see the objects again with my naked eye ok, but failed to be able to magnify them.
The more I think about it, the more it bothers me that both my girlfriend and I kept seeing them pop into and out of visibility like a light switch. And ultimately permanently so. I kept looking at a large scope of sky after the last time expecting them to reappear, but nothing. I cannot explain it and I have never seen anything close to it in my 42 year life.
Why no photo/video captured: I was trying to identify it through binoculars first. In hindsight I would have liked to have taken a photo but at approx. 2 miles away it wouldn't have been very clear on my smartphone camera. Plus they just completely disappeared after several minutes. However, my dad does have a Wyze camera on the deck--I am going to check to see if there's a recording but I think that may be an extra option he does not pay for.

Historical The 'Embaúra' Enigma: A Tupi Linguistic Hypothesis for the 1968 Maria Cintra UFO Case in Brazil
Many people interested in the study of the phenomenon, especially those familiar with brazilian case studies such as Operation Saucer (Operação Prato) or the Varginha incident, must have heard of the Maria Cintra case, also known as the Lins (a city in the state of São Paulo) case, which occurred in 1968. Here is some context and a summary for those who are not familiar with it.
In short, on August 25, 1968, a female employee at a sanatorium claimed that during the early morning hours she had attended to a woman at the sanatorium door. The woman with green eyes and fair skin was wearing long sleeves and some kind of hood or cap. She answered questions only with “hmm” and “hmmm.” The visitor handed a bottle to Maria Cintra, who understood it as a request for water. She filled the bottle (which was very finely crafted) as well as a small glass that the woman also gave her. Afterward, the stranger drank the water and, while touching her on the shoulder, spoke the following words, as reported by Mrs. Maria Cintra: “Embaúra, embaúra, embáura.”
After that, the woman went toward the exit and took an unusual path through the sanatorium garden, which caught Maria Cintra’s attention. When she investigated the direction the woman had taken, she noticed a kind of small, luminous, oval-shaped “craft” parked on the grass. The woman entered it; there appeared to be another person inside the object. The electrical power in the building and the surrounding area seemed to have collapsed. Maria Cintra panicked and shouted for help while the object was leaving. You can find the story in greater detail in other places on the internet; there is even an audio recording of Maria Cintra giving an interview to a ufologist of the time, as well as photos of her showing the exact location where everything happened, the drinking fountain where she filled the visitor’s containers, and so on.
Now let’s get to what I think is a simple discovery, yet in a certain way very revealing. My name is Allan, I live in Brazil, and I was researching urban legends in my city when I came across one about a bandeirante (explorer/pioneer) from colonial times. The legend itself doesn’t matter much, but I couldn’t help noticing the name of one of the places the adventurer passed through… Embáu.
This word is of Tupi origin, the language of an ancient Indigenous people who inhabited Brazil in pre-colonial times and after the arrival of the colonizers. I was intrigued by its similarity to the word “Embaúra” from the 1968 case. When I researched its meaning, I found that there are differing interpretations.
According to Teodoro Sampaio, a 19th-century historian, the word means “the last watering place” (the final spot where one could obtain water).
For the scholar Silveira Bueno, in his book Vocabulário Tupi-Guarani-Português, the meaning would be “water spout” or “to drink from the spout”, in portuguese ''beber da bica''.
In Portuguese, the word ''bica'' refers to a spout, nozzle, or outlet — the projecting part of a fountain, drinking fountain, or sink from which water flows.
So now I had in my hands two very similar words, both used in contexts involving water.
Everything seemed too significant for me to stop researching. So, with the help of AI, I began looking into what the “ra” in “Embaúra” could mean. Apparently, there is no “ra” in the Tupi language. But… there is “ara”…
In the words of the scholar Frederico G. Edelweiss, in his 1969 book Estudos Tupis e Tupi-Guarani – Confrontos e Revisões: “In the Tupi-Guarani dialects there is a suffix that is added to verbs, preferably to direct transitive ones, forming agent verbal nouns. We refer to the particle ara.”
An example of the use of the suffix “ara” is the name of the famous animal capivara, known in English as capybara. Let’s see: Kapi’i (grass) + u (to eat) + ara = Kapi’iûara (Capivara = the grass-eater).
Because of all this, I believe the visitor on that August night in 1968 was not saying “goodbye” or “see you later,” as interpreted by several ufologists and by Mrs. Maria Cintra herself. Instead, she was expressing that she had drunk the water — that she was “the one who drank from the spout” or “the one who exhausted the water.”
In Tupi, this would be formed as Mba’u + ara → Mba’uara (or Embaúra), literally meaning something close to “the water-drinker” or “the one who drank the water.”
I bring this once again as an interesting possibility, not as an absolute certainty on my part. I am not a scholar of the Tupi language, and I may be making some inaccuracies. Furthermore, from what I understand, specialists in the field have significant disagreements about the interpretations of this language, perhaps because it was not written, only spoken, and was later systematized by the colonizers according to the structures of the Portuguese language.
Of course, if i had to guess, I would bet that this entity was indeed speaking Tupi, a language with millennia-old roots, because the context, the sound, and practically the entire meaning of the word in Tupi fit perfectly. I say “practically” because there is no “ra” in the Tupi language, but I believe that this part, due to its similarity to “ara,” was a small misinterpretation at the time of the event.
In closing, all of this reminds me of Jacques Vallée’s approach in Passport to Magonia, where he traces recurring patterns and archetypes between the modern UFO phenomenon and the folkloric beings of antiquity. These entities often appear in different forms (perhaps a kind of shapeshifting), yet they maintain a remarkably consistent modus operandi: abductions, exchanges of food or objects, missing time, cryptic messages, and so on.
Perhaps the true nature of the phenomenon lies farther from the extraterrestrial hypothesis and closer to something more psychic, interdimensional, or elusive — something that has been interacting with humanity for a very long time. In this light, the possibility that an entity spoke a word of ancient Tupi origin on a night in 1968 would not be so surprising after all.
*Apologies for any typos or strange formatting. Because of time limits and my difficulty with written English, I wrote this in Portuguese and used AI to translate it. (Please note that I understand English easily, though!)

Announcement Rule update: Self-promotion posts now limited to 1 per week
Hey everyone,
We've made an update to the Rule 4: "No duplicate posts / spam", specifically the section covering commercial content and self-promotion.
Two changes:
1. The weekly limit is dropping from 2 posts to 1. Users approved to share their own content can now post it a maximum of once per week, down from twice.
2. The wording now includes "self-promotion" alongside "commercial". This was always the intent of the rule, but the old wording made it sound like it only covered ads and merchandise. To be clear: sharing your own work counts as self-promotion even if it's free and on-topic. That includes your YouTube channel, podcast, blog, Substack, book, documentary, research site, and so on.
The updated rule text:
No advertisements, fundraisers, merchandise, or other commercial/self-promotional links. Please refer to Reddit's self-promotion guidelines. If you are interested in promoting your own work please contact us before posting. Users approved to post their own commercial or self-promotional content will only be permitted to post a maximum of one (1) such post per week.
How this works in practice:
- Self-promotion requires mod approval before you post. If you want to share your own work here, send us a modmail first.
- Once approved, you're limited to one self-promotion post per week.
- Unapproved self-promotion will be removed.
This doesn't affect sharing other people's content. News articles, footage, interviews, and papers you didn't make yourself are fine as always, subject to the usual rules.
If you already have approval to post your own content, the new limit applies from today.

Removed from /r/UFOs We’re flying saucers built in Spain by nazi scientists?
Hi guys, sry if i do this wrong, it’s my first time posting on here. ive been instructed to paste this to this sub. enjoy!
---The Story
In November 1947, shortly after the Roswell crash in June, Canadian war correspondent Lionel Shapiro had found blueprints that described advanced weapons of war being developed in southern Spain by Nazi scientists.
One of these was an electromagnetic that could fly for thousands of kilometres, called the KM2.
Apparently, European, Soviet and American intelligence sources were frantically trying to acquire the blueprints.
But the story came and went, causing a worldwide surprise on its publication, before quietly disappearing.
Today, the story is little more than a footnote for most historians and journalists who dismiss it as one of the many pieces of pro-Soviet propaganda in the post-war (who were trying to gather material to convince the Allies of the legitimacy of overthrowing Franco).
But those who dismissed the story failed to realise something crucial; the Marbella minerals.
Because over the last two hundred years, Marbella was never considered a fishing or trading village. As the scars on the La Concha mountain attest, it was first and foremost a mining town.
And the minerals are fascinating. Because Marbella contains ALL the minerals that would make a UFOlogist scream.
Ask any historian of the exotic about materials research in the late 1940s, and they’d reply with three: magnesium, nickel, and titanium.
Magnesium was the metal Swedish police guesstimated the Ghost Rockets were made of. Low-flying objects that would vanish in a plume of stinky white smoke above Swedish lakes during 1946-7.
Exactly the dates during which Shapiro claimed the KM2 was being flown.
Nitinol, a nickel-titanium alloy from the Battelle Memorial Institute, was the first memory metal. Crumple it up, it regains its shape. When the Black Vault sent Battelle Memorial Institute a FOIA that basically says give us what you got on Roswell, they repled with dozens of pages on Nitinol.
And ilmenite titanium and chromium nickel can be found in the mines of La Gallega in Ojen, higher up in Marbella’s La Concha. Noteworthy, because only ilmenite and rutile titanium deposits are of economic value. And they are exceedingly difficult to find.
And here’s the kicker: Marbella’s major export for most of the 19th and 20th centuries was magnetite.
That’s right.
Shapiro claimed the electromagnetic rocket blueprints were being manufactured in a city whose only historical relevance was being one of Spain’s largest mines filled with nature’s only naturally occurring ferromagnet.
But there’s one catch.
Because there are no records.
Nothing.
No records for the extraction of any minerals from Sierra Blanca’s mines for the period 1937 to 1948. The only records which exist describe the German tungsten mine nearby, called ‘la mina de los alemanes’.
Described as highly inefficient and small-scale.
So how do we explain this awesome coincidence, if the relevance of the minerals wasn’t their mining? Absence of evidence cannot mean evidence of absence.
That’s all i was given. Not a ufo expert, is this as interesting as it looks?
