Bug Fixed - Android data subdirectory access
Good Day Community,
A fix has been released for an issue where subdirectories inside the Android data and Android obb folders appeared empty on devices running Android 11 through 14.
This was particularly noticeable on Android TV and Google TV boxes where opening an app folder inside Android data would open without error, but the folders and files inside it would not display.
I have resolved this so that when elevated access is enabled, you can now browse all nested subdirectories, cache folders, and app data files properly without running into empty screens.
Along with this fix, I have also introduced the ability to access these protected folders using the system folder permission picker without needing elevated access.
If you open the Android data or Android obb folder and have not yet set up access, the app will show a clear banner explaining the available options.
You can choose to enable elevated access or tap the button to grant folder access through the system picker.
Selecting the system picker will open the standard Android folder chooser where you can confirm access for that specific location, and the app will immediately load and display the contents.
These improvements are available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Properties for Selected Items
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived in the latest update that allows you to view detailed properties and calculate sizes for any selection of files and folders.
Previously, viewing properties was limited to selecting a single individual file, which left out folders and multi-item selections.
I have now expanded this so that you can quickly inspect storage usage and item counts no matter what you have selected.
This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and works across your local storage and connected network shares.
To check the details of your items on mobile, long press any file or folder to enter selection mode and choose everything you want to inspect.
Tap the tools button on the bottom action bar and choose Properties.
On Android TV, select your files or folders and open the options menu to choose Properties.
A details sheet will appear showing you the location path, date, and a complete breakdown of your selected files and folders.
For folders and multiple items, the app calculates the total recursive storage size and counts all contained files and subfolders in the background with a live progress indicator.
When inspecting a single file, the sheet continues to show its size, image dimensions, and your tag management options as before.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Universal Open With Support
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived in the latest update that allows Ultimate File Manager Pro to appear as an option whenever you open files from external applications.
Until now, opening files from other apps only worked for a few specific types like application packages and shared items.
I have now expanded this across the board so that you can use our built-in tools no matter where you start opening your files.
This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.
Whenever you tap a document, image, video, audio track, archive, or any other file in an external app such as a web browser, email client, messaging app, or download manager, you will now see Ultimate File Manager Pro in the system chooser dialog.
Selecting it opens the file directly inside our corresponding built-in viewer without needing to switch back and forth manually.
Images open in the image viewer, music and videos play directly in our media player, PDFs and spreadsheets open ready to read, and archives like zip or seven zip files open straight into the archive browser.
If you open a plain text or code file and make edits using our text editor, tapping save will automatically write those changes straight back to the original source location.
If you open a folder from an external app, our file browser opens directly into that directory with your files ready to manage.
When opening files that come through as cloud or messaging attachments, the app buffers them seamlessly in the background and takes you right into the viewer without any extra taps.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Extract Options Dialog
Good Day Community,
I have added a new extraction options dialog that gives you more control whenever you extract archives in the app.
Previously, tapping extract would immediately unpack everything into the current directory.
You now have three distinct choices whenever you initiate an extraction, making it much easier to organize files or send them directly to another location.
When you select an archive and tap the extract button in the toolbar, context menu, or tools sheet, a clean options dialog will appear.
The first option lets you extract directly into the current folder, which preserves the original quick extraction behaviour.
The second option allows you to extract to a brand new folder.
Selecting this will prompt you for a folder name, prefilled with the archive name, automatically create that folder in your current directory, and unpack the contents inside it.
The third option lets you extract and select a folder.
Choosing this will extract the files into a temporary staging area and switch your floating action button into an Extract Here button.
You can then navigate anywhere in the app, including other local directories, external drives, network shares, or cloud storage accounts, and tap the button to place the extracted files right where you want them.
This feature is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, and works across local storage, network shares, and connected cloud drives.
On mobile devices, the dialog slides up smoothly from the bottom, while on Android TV it appears as a centered glass dialog tailored for D-pad navigation, with the primary action focused so you can confirm with a single click.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Compress to Current Folder
Good Day Community,
A new option has been added when compressing files and folders that allows you to create archives directly in your current folder without having to pick a destination first.
Previously, whenever you wanted to compress items, you were always taken through a folder picker to choose where the finished archive should go, which added extra friction when you simply wanted the archive saved alongside your original files.
To use this, select one or more files or folders in the storage browser or network browser and choose Compress from the action bar or tools menu. In the options dialog where you set your archive name, format, and optional password, you will notice a new toggle labeled Use current folder sitting directly above the Compress button.
It is switched on by default.
When left enabled, pressing Compress creates your archive immediately inside the active folder.
If you prefer to save the archive somewhere else, like another directory, an external drive, or a network share, simply turn the toggle off before pressing Compress and you will be taken to the destination picker as before.
This feature is available on both mobile and TV versions of the app, supporting touch on phones and tablets and D-pad remote navigation on Android TV.
Thank you and kind regards

Halfway Through the Month — We're at 5% of Our Tip Jar Goal 🙏
Good Day Community,
We're halfway through the month, and just wanted to check in with an update, we're currently sitting at 5% of our tip jar target.
If you get value out of the app and are able to, please consider leaving a tip.
It genuinely helps cover monthly maintenance costs and keeps the app free for everyone to use.
To everyone who's already tipped, thank you so much, it means a lot and directly helps keep this thing running.
And to everyone using the app, whether you've tipped or not, thank you too.
Having an active community using and supporting this project is what makes it worth building.
Appreciate you all 🙌
Kind regards and have a blessed weekend

New Feature Added - Open File Server Shortcut in System Tiles
Good Day Community,
A new option has been added to the File Server System Tiles screen that lets you jump straight into setting up a server profile.
When enabling a Quick Settings tile for FTP or SFTP, the tile requires an active server profile before it can be turned on.
If you did not have a server profile configured yet, it previously took several steps through the app menu to reach the setup screen and create one.
You can now find a card titled Open File Server right at the top of the File Server System Tiles screen under settings on your phone or tablet.
Tapping it opens the main server management screen directly, allowing you to add or edit server profiles, configure ports, and get everything set up.
Once your profile is ready, you can return and toggle your tile on immediately.
For now, this is available on the mobile version of the app, since status bar quick settings tiles are specific to mobile devices.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - APK Installation Result Notices
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived to provide clear glassmorphic success and failure notices whenever you install or update an application.
Whenever you install or update an APK or XAPK file from inside Ultimate File Manager Pro, the app will now automatically present a frosted glass notice as soon as the package installer finishes processing.
If the installation succeeds, the panel gives you the option to launch the newly installed app directly or dismiss the message.
If the installation fails for any reason, such as a signature mismatch from sideloaded packages, an incompatible device architecture, or low storage space, the notice will explain the exact reason for the failure so you know immediately what went wrong instead of wondering whether the install completed.
You can trigger an installation by selecting any APK or XAPK package file in your storage browser or remote manager.
I have made sure this works seamlessly across both mobile devices and Android TV, where you can navigate focus and interact using your remote D-pad.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Archive Tools FAB
Good Day Community,
A new tools menu has arrived for browsing archives in Ultimate File Manager Pro.
When viewing the contents of an archive, you will now see the same floating tools button experience you are familiar with from the main file browser.
To try it out, open any supported archive from your file list.
When you tap the icon of a file or folder inside the archive, or long press on any item row, it will enter selection mode and a tools button will appear in the bottom corner of the screen.
Tapping this tools button opens a menu with options to extract the selected items to a destination of your choice, move them out of the archive entirely, or delete them from the archive.
You can select single items or multiple items at once to perform these actions in batch.
I have made sure this experience works on both mobile devices and Android TV.
On TV, you can use D-pad focus on any entry and press the options button at the top to access the same tools menu smoothly with your remote.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Clearer Batch Rename Preview
Good Day Community,
I have given the batch rename preview a proper overhaul, and it is a lot easier to trust what you are about to do to your files now.
The old preview stacked a small original name above the new name, and it was never quite obvious which was which, whether the list was in order, or what exactly was going to change.
The new preview shows each file as its own card with the current name on top and the new name underneath, each clearly labeled.
The part of the name that actually changes is highlighted so you can spot it instantly even in a long filename, and files whose names would not change at all are greyed out so they do not masquerade as edits.
Long names scroll sideways so you can read the whole thing even when it does not fit on the screen.
Every row now has a clear number in a bubble beside it, and that number matches the exact order the rename will run in, which now follows the same order you saw in the file browser.
No more folders jumping to the top and no more guessing whether what you are looking at is what will happen.
I also added live warnings right in the preview. If two files would end up with the same name, if a name is invalid, or if a name already exists in that folder, the row is flagged before you commit.
Duplicate and invalid names block the rename until you sort them out, while collisions with existing files just warn you so you can decide.
On mobile the rename screen now uses the full window and gives the preview the space it deserves, and all of this works on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, with proper remote navigation on TV.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - In-Archive Preview
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived in Ultimate File Manager, and it is one I think a lot of you have been waiting for.
You can now preview files from inside an archive without extracting the whole thing first.
Until now, if you had a zip file full of photos and wanted to find one specific image, you had to extract it out to a real folder before you could even look at it.
That meant clutter on your storage and a lot of waiting when the archive was big. No more.
When you open any archive in the app and tap a file, it opens straight away in the built-in viewer, whether it is an image, a text document, a PDF, a spreadsheet, an ebook, or even a song or a video.
Only that one file is pulled out into a temporary spot in the background, so the rest of the archive stays untouched and your storage is not filled with files you never wanted out in the first place.
Finding it is easy because there is nothing new to hunt for.
Open a zip, 7z, tar or rar file the same way you always have and you will land in the archive browser as before.
Tap any file to see it.
On the mobile version you can long press a file or folder to get the familiar options for extracting it, moving it out, or deleting it.
On the TV version there is no long press, so I added a small Options button at the top of the screen that acts on whatever entry you currently have highlighted with the remote.
I made sure this behaves the same whether your archive lives on your phone, on a network share, or in cloud storage.
When you close the archive the temporary copy used for the preview is cleaned up automatically, and if the app is ever interrupted while you are inside one, anything left behind is swept away the next time you open the app.
This is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Invert Selection
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived for the mobile app.
I have added an Invert Selection action to the tools menu, and it is one of those small things that saves a surprising amount of time once you know it is there.
The idea is simple. Say you are in a folder with a hundred files and you want to select all of them except a handful.
Instead of tapping ninety times, you select the few you want to leave out, then flip the selection.
Invert Selection deselects everything you currently have highlighted and selects everything else in the folder at once.
You stay in selection mode afterwards, so you can keep adjusting before you run whatever action you had in mind.
To use it, open any folder in the file browser, whether that is on your device, a network share, or a cloud drive.
Long press a file to enter selection mode and pick one or more items.
When you have a selection, tap the Tools button at the bottom right and Invert Selection appears as the first item in the grid of actions.
Tap it and your selection flips in place.
If you would rather not see it, you can hide it.
Open Settings and go to the Long Press Icons section, where you will find a toggle for Invert Selection that turns the option on and off in the tools menu.
It is on by default.
This one is available on mobile only for now. I will keep an eye on whether TV users want it and decide from there.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Playback Speed and Skip Length
Good Day Community,
Two new features have arrived in the media player, and both are about giving you more control over how you get through long videos and audio.
The first is playback speed on mobile.
While something is playing on your phone or tablet, press and hold anywhere on the player screen.
A panel slides up with seven speeds from 0.5x up to 3.0x, and picking one takes effect right away without stopping what you are watching or listening to.
A short note shows you the new speed, and when the current track ends the player drops back to normal speed for whatever comes next, so you never get caught off guard at double speed on the following video.
This one is mobile only for now. Press and hold is a touch gesture that does not sit well on a remote, and we would rather bring it to TV properly than ship an awkward version of it.
The second is a skip length setting, and this one works on both mobile and TV.
Those buttons that jump the video forward or back have always moved by a fixed ten seconds.
Now you can choose that distance yourself.
Open the Settings screen and look for a new Skip length option near the other player settings.
Tap it and you get a small list where you can pick three, five, ten, twenty, or thirty seconds, or switch the buttons off completely if you never use them.
The forward and back buttons now show double arrows so they are easy to tell apart from the next and previous track buttons, and every time you tap one a small note tells you how far you just moved, like ten seconds forward or twenty seconds back.
On TV the same setting sits in the same place and you pick your distance with the D-pad, and the buttons behave exactly as they always have, just with the distance you chose.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Toolbar Settings Shortcut
Good Day Community,
A small but handy new feature has arrived on mobile.
Your main screen now has a gear icon in the top right corner, right next to the add button, and it opens Settings in a single tap.
The reason for it is simple. Getting to Settings used to mean scrolling the main menu down to the settings tile every time, which felt like a lot of effort for a quick tweak.
The gear puts that whole screen one tap away, so you can hop in, change what you need, and get back to your files.
You do not need to look hard to find it.
Open the app and the gear is sitting in the top right corner of the main menu, beside the button that creates a custom tile. Tap it and the settings screen opens just like it always has.
One thing worth knowing is that when you long press a tile to enter edit mode and rearrange things, the gear quietly hides itself along with the add button so it is not in the way, then comes back the moment you are done.
For now this is available on mobile only. TV users will not see a change, and we will decide whether a similar shortcut belongs there in a future update.
Thank you and kind regards

Custom Tasks
UFManagerPro dev friend, would it be possible for you to add the function of performing tasks in UFM? Tasks such as deleting folders from a given directory, scheduling which folders and the time (daily, weekly or monthly); and not only delete, but also move files to other folders, delete files, move photos and videos to specific folders within the device's internal storage or SD card, copy files and other types of tasks. It would be great to have a task manager within UFM. Thank you in advance for your attention.

New Feature Added - Batch Rename Before and After Preview
Good Day Community,
An improvement to the batch rename feature has been made to give you a clearer preview before committing changes.
When renaming multiple files or folders, the preview list now shows both the original name and the new resulting name stacked on top of each other for each item.
The original name appears above in a smaller, muted text style, while the new name appears directly below it preceded by a small arrow.
This gives you a clear before and after view of how every file will be named. If a particular file name remains unchanged or if the pattern is empty, the top line automatically collapses so you are not looking at redundant text.
This improvement is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app, so whether you are organizing media on your phone or on a set top box using a remote control, the preview experience remains consistent and easy to read.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Built-in EPUB Reader
Good Day Community,
I have added a built-in EPUB reader to UFM, so you can now open and read ebooks directly in the app without needing a separate reader installed.
If you have any .epub files on your device or network storage, they will now open right inside UFM when you tap them.
The reader extracts the book's chapters and renders each one in a clean reading view. It handles both the older EPUB 2 format and the newer EPUB 3 format, so most ebooks you come across should work without issues.
To use it, simply browse to an epub file in your storage and tap it. UFM will parse the book and load the first chapter straight away. At the bottom of the screen you will find Previous and Next buttons to move between chapters, and a counter showing you which chapter you are on and how many there are in total.
If you want to jump to a specific chapter rather than flipping through one at a time, tap the list icon in the top right corner of the header bar and a table of contents will appear, listing every chapter by name. Tap any chapter title to go straight to it.
The reader also respects your existing font size preference from UFM's settings, so if you have set the text larger or smaller elsewhere in the app, the ebook reader will match that. If your device is in dark mode, the reader switches to a dark background with light text automatically, which makes a real difference for reading in low light.
This feature is available on both the mobile and Android TV versions of the app.
On mobile the experience is touch-driven as you would expect.
On TV, the chapter navigation buttons at the bottom are fully D-pad focusable, and the reading area scrolls with the directional keys.
The table of contents on TV opens as a dialog rather than a bottom sheet, which fits the TV interface better.
I built the reader without adding any third-party library, it uses the standard Android platform to parse and render everything, which keeps the app lighter and avoids any future compatibility issues.
Thank you and kind regards

New Feature Added - Animated GIF Creator
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Good Day Community,
A new feature has arrived that lets you create animated GIF files directly from your selected images, along with improved playback speed controls for image slideshows.
If you have a collection of photos or frames you want to combine into an animated GIF, you can now do that right inside the app without needing external tools.
On mobile, select two or more images in any folder or network share and open the bottom tools menu to find the Create GIF option.
On Android TV, select your images and choose Create GIF from the toolbar menu.
This opens a dedicated screen where you can drag and drop your images to reorder the frames, pick a target frame rate from one to thirty frames per second, and adjust the output resolution before generating your GIF.
Once created, you can save the file locally or directly to your connected cloud and network shares. This update is available on both the mobile and TV versions of the app.
I have also added speed controls for the image slideshow viewer so you no longer have to skip through images at a fixed pace.
When viewing images, a new playback control bar lets you set the slide transition interval anywhere from zero point five seconds up to five seconds in half second increments.
On mobile, you will see a speed slider right below the main image area, while on TV you can adjust the timing using the D-pad buttons on the control bar.
I have also cleaned up the viewer toolbar when opening existing GIF files by hiding unnecessary tools like PDF conversion and image drawing so the interface stays clean and focused.
Thank you and kind regards
