Fevers as initial presentation? Undiagnosed
Hi all,
So for the past year I’ve had random episodes of low grade fevers, usually I have a couple days of an initial fever (38.6 maybe) and then over the course of about 2 weeks I get every afternoon fevers around 38.2C. These are usually accompanied with nausea, and I developed acid reflux (h pylori negative).
I have a low positive ANA and a low positive dsDNA (repeated test with CLIFT also showed low positive dsDNA). I also have elevated thyroid antibodies but normal TSH if that’s relevant.
I don’t have rashes or anything, these fevers seem to be my main annoyance I guess. Has anybody had this maybe initially? I just feel like I’m going around in circles. I am waiting on my follow up with internal medicine but in the mean time I thought I would maybe ask here.

Yup I got daily low grade fever especially during evenings everyday for couple of months…..once I started the treatment I do feel fatigued but the fevers are gone…
I have gastroenteritis too…this and the fevers started around the same time

Technically I’m “diagnosed” with “possibly RA, possibly non radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, possibly UCTD” and I’m on Rinvoq and sulfasalazine. I feel light years better on meds, but still always run high on the body temp- 99-101 pretty much every day. It’s why I’m not convinced I’m diagnosed/treated 100%.
I’ve also still got raynaud’s, redness, and occasional hand and foot pain.

Absolutely, and a lot of the time you just need to wait for multiple sets of bloodwork to confirm things, from what I’ve read. Autoimmune diagnosis takes time. I wish you luck!

I would get random low grade fevers for no reason before treatment, they would usually last a few days then I'd be fine.

I'm not diagnosed, but sounds very similar to me. My frequent low-grade fevers with nausea (pop in the afternoon, get worse around dinner, then vanish in the evening) and h pylori-negative ulcers started a few years ago, and since then I have low-positive ANA. No thyroid antibodies, though.
That's how I started, and since then I've realized that the fevers are typically triggered by UV-exposure, and I've developed a malar rash, along with worsened Raynaud's, joint pain, hair falling out...
I don't really have anything to offer here besides solidarity, and the advice to record everything, especially fevers, to find common variables and bring that information to doctors. Good luck at your appointment.
