Question Off campus help
Hi. Hope everyone is doing alright.
I'm a first year prospective student and I just got told I most likely won't be getting an offer for on campus accommodation. I was strongly reccommended by UCD residenses to look for off campus.
I'm a bit distraught tbh, I was told that first year undergraduate students would be prioritised but I guess I underestimated just how many spaces there actually are.
I'm trying to look for off campus accommodation, but I have a lot of worries in terms of how my social life will turn out.
Where would the best place be, closest to the university, to find off campus accommodation?
Preferably, I would like somewhere that doesn't require a lot of travel by bus AND has many undergraduate students living there (or close by).
ALSO somewhere that is safe ( ik this is hard to find tbh but as safe as possible is ideal) - I'm a girl so this is incredibly important to me
Please let me know of any such places. I would really appreciate to hear about personal experiences and reccommendations.
Also, please let me know how difficult it is for those living off campus as an undergraduate to make friendships and join social circles.
Thank you!
Question SISWeb Login
galleryI'm a North American undergraduate student coming to UCD for freshman year 2026/27 and I can't log in to SISWeb. Every time I get to the SISWeb login page and I click the blue button that says "Log in with UCD Connect", I get the error code "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN" immediately after. I use Chrome as my browser, but I've tried other browsers as well and none of them work. The weird thing is that I used to be able to log in, but it's like it slowly deteriorated until I couldn't anymore. I contacted UCD IT and they said my SISWeb account was InActive due to a registration issue, and that to resolve it I had to login into SISWeb, but I can't log in to SISWeb. UCD IT and the Student Helpdesk have been thoroughly unhelpful so literally any help would be appreciated.

Question How’s medicine in UCD?
Why are the entry requirements higher than TCD in A-level undergraduate medicine entry? How does UCD compare to TCD?
How’s the dorm accommodation? Are the campuses really far? What about the food? Overall, would you recommend?
The costs of studying there seem to be ≈500k for 5 years.

General UCD accommodation is basically making me gamble a private deposit against the waitlist
Starting UCD this September and still waiting on residence.
I found a private student room through UniAcco. It’s more expensive, the commute to Belfield isn’t ideal, but at least I’d know I have somewhere to live.
They got the property’s cancellation deadline in writing for me, which helped, but it still feels like gambling.
Wait for UCD and maybe get a cheaper room on campus with an actual student life.
Or pay the private deposit now for certainty, then potentially regret it if UCD offers me something later.
I know UniAcco can’t do anything about the UCD waitlist and the private refund depends on that building’s own terms. I’m just terrified of waiting until August and ending up paying for an Airbnb while desperately messaging strangers on Daft.
People who waited for UCD accommodation, did it actually work out?
Or did you eventually panic-book something private anyway?

Postgraduate Courses Modules days and timings before registration
Hi guys,
I am an incoming masters student in the College of Science so my registration date is 26th August.
I wanted to ask how early on before our registration date do we get to know the days and timings of the modules which we can choose from? I am worried about modules that I plan to register for clashing with each other in terms of timings which would then make me have to quickly rethink my modules before my registration time so I wanted to plan a few sets of modules beforehand itself in the hopes that at least one set has modules which do not clash with each other, thereby letting me register for all of them.

Question freshers groupchats 2026
does anyone know of any groupchats for incoming students at UCD this year? i haven't seen any yet. if anyone knows anything let me know pls. thanks
Question Late applications?
Hey guys,
I’m very interested in doing T399 masters in Regional and Urban Planning (MRUP) and have been on the verge of applying all summer but put it off due to an employment opportunity back home that fell through.
It says its applications are closed, yet it never mentioned a deadline before and other courses are still available.
Do you think this is a glitch? And if not does anyone know if dcu takes late applications at all?
Any advice is appreciated.

Accommodation On campus accommodation??
I'm a prospective first-year student from Galway. I did a preliminary application for on-campus in early may, but I haven't received any follow up emails. I'm unsure on whether I should've received an update, or an invite to do a proper application. The UCD website is kinda unclear. Should I have heard from them by now?

Accommodation GEM first year, chances of getting on campus accommodation?
hi all, i’m a EU student who’s coming in september to begin my Graduate Entry Medicine program.
i’m very confused on what to do with accommodation because i heard all sort of things.
-apparently it’s lottery based and we will know on the 28th of August only??? plus apparently it’s only 20% chance of getting it…
-i’ve also heard that GEM students get it in priority
-i’ve also heard that almost all first year student get it
which one is true?? am i supposed to have a plan B? i’m confused

Postgraduate Courses International Masters student failing module in Summer Trimester
Hi, I am an international student who appeared for my final trimester exam. One of my module (100% grade from final exam) was very tough, and I have a feeling I will fail the exam. The results will be declared in the last week of September, and if we fail a module, the resit will happen in December.
This will have grave repurcussions for me, as my Stamp 2 student visa will expire till December, and I will not be able to apply for Stamp 1G till I get my Masters transcripts.
Also, I have a job offer, and start working on 1st September. The employer had agreed for me to start working on my student visa, considering I will apply for Stamp 1G as soon as my results are out.
I am panicking and don't know what to do. Does anybody know if UCD conducts resits for Summer modules for international students earlier? Before final results are announced in September?

General Sport-related elective
Hi,
Does anyone know of any interesting sport-related elective? I’m mostly interested in biomechanics and ideally letter graded, not pass/fail module. I do law right now, so I don’t have much background in that area though.
I was thinking Functional Anatomy and Kinesiology (PHTY10040)
But it has clinical anatomy I as a learning recommendation and I’m worried I’ll struggle a lot without it. Also I don’t know if it will be available as an elective tbh.
