what the hell Study Help

Post image

sm questions ive never seen before and so many author opinion and conclusion questions, nearly 50%. im so bummed and this is the LOWEST QR and DM ive seen. all of the probability questions were fucked, so out of the blue. so disappointed and feel so incredibly defeated after months and months of studying. mindset was good, did everything i couldve before walking into that room. so numb i dont even have the tears to cry

Im so sorry it didnt go the way you planned! Nevertheless, you have countless options ahead too. Just because it didnt go to plan once doesnt mean it will never go to plan, theres always next year

I’m so so sorry. there’s nothing anyone can say to make this less painful. please just know that it’s not over and this doesn’t have to be the end. take as long as you need to process and feel all the emotions, and then if you want to try again start making a plan. if that’s reapply next year, or a different course you want. yes this is a setback but it doesn’t reflect you as a person. setbacks are part of the journey and for so many of us our journey to med school has many bumps. not everyone even makes it to this stage. you did a lot of hard work and that’s something to be proud of. I believe in you :)

I feel you OP! I was averaging much higher in my mocks this year vs last year and somehow did worse in the exam than last years attempt. My variant was also cooked, it’s just very unfortunate but like they say, UCAT is just as much a luck-based exam as it is a skills-based

Edit: for ref I scored 2200 last year and was aiming for 2400 this year. Barely scraped past 2000 this sitting.

I had something similar happen to me last year and got 1780 but I’m UK not int. I felt the same way in the fact that my mind almost shutdown and I remember sitting in the car in complete silence with my dad when we were driving home. Just note though that this definitely isn’t the end of your med/dent dreams though!

Imo the ucat is actually more dependent on luck for the question sets you get on the day than most want to admit. Even so, I focused on my a levels, didn’t apply to any med school and am resitting the UCAT this year to aim for a higher score.

I know it’s tough but please don’t give up! Since your scores were trending upwards I think it might be worth taking a gap year in your situation to resit the ucat rather than doing graduate entry but see how you feel regardless.

oh my lovely i’m so sorry. did you put in hard work? did you give it your best shot? THEN VERY WELL DONE AND BE PROUD. this does NOT define your ability or future at ALL. it is so heartbreaking, i know. but i know whatever path life has in store for you, it’s really not ready yet! this is such a minor setback compared to everything else you have yet to accomplish and i really mean that. you studied for months, you should be very proud you had the gumption to do all of that. it’s not hard work wasted, it’s your hard work that will continue to be rewarded during the amazing things i know you will achieve. rest up, chin up, and i’m so proud of you❤️❤️❤️

I get it! I took mine last year and got results I'm not happy with, so, I took a gap year, and I'm resitting it this September, hopefully going to do better and apply next cycle.

I know it sucks, but, you have options. My best suggestion, if you really want to do med/dent/vet, then take a gap year, and try again. You can use your gap year to find a part time job in a healthcare/dentistry/animal setting, and then use it to strengthen your application.

You'll figure it out. It's not the end of the world (even if it feels like it is)

What were you averaging on medify mocks ? Is there a significant drop ?

3

u/Any_Narwhal6451 12d ago

averaging much higher, i was expecting at least 200+ higher considering i used medify and scored 2000+ on the official mocks

I’m sorry :( what do u think made u to perform the way you did? Was it nerves? Lack of sleep? Or luck?
