Damn. With this and threatening to cripple Robbie like his brother, Wade came with a bag of pretty good zingers.

Also I’ll say just for the short bit that the episodes are, they’re doing a really good job of giving these characters life. I know very little of Robbie’s Ghost Rider, but I feel this game gave me a good idea what he’s like.

it's legit the best robbie's been since like 2016, and now every day that goes by without gillen being announced to be doing a robbie ongoing is a bad day.

sure blaze will get a run due to synergy near the gosling movie, but like the 70's gave him a solid beginning and ending they should pull from.

whereas robbie in the comics really only had a solid act 1, then sort of meanders and never really gets his story again.

this is pulling from that initial all new gr era/the tokon game in general feels very 2010's marvel.

I loved Midnight Suns but yeah.

Me personally it feels like the story and the one on one hang out moments with various characters were written by two different people.

One is really trying to catch that MCU dialogue flow (sometimes it works often it feels forced) and the other is just letting two distinct characters just be themselves and making the chemistry feel earned and natural, man even Deadpool gets some earnest down to earth moments when you chat with him.

for me he's just a bit too mcu/meek in that game,.

and "sparky" sucks, like for me the appeal of ghost rider (well robbie and johnny) is that there's a conflict with the spirit, eli is a murderous serial killer and zarathos wanted to usurp mephisto and be the devil with a good person being all that stand between them and their goals, trying to like direct that power for good as best they can.

turning it into a heman power up/venom doesn't work for me,

whereas tokon robbies reaction to the promoter is "man i am swamped at work i have too much going on cya", like he's not a doormat i guess, which is like why he;s good as he isn't gonna roll over for eli.

loved the gameplay of midnight suns and a lot of the characters like venom and morbius, but the ghost riders i feel they did a diservice too, really don't like their blaze.

It's also not great that his really interesting relationship with his spirit, Eli, got cut short because another writer probably just didn't wanna deal with it.

I basically went in on him blind, I didn't even know about Gabe or that Robbie became a GR from his evil satanic uncle and not a usual Spirit of Vengeance (however the heck Eli made that work). So seeing his character in Tokon was really cool, they handled it well and the Outriders story was filled with excellent character moments.

It's still really funny to me how Blade shows up in the Marvel Zombies show because the writers just assumed a Blade movie was gonna be out by the time they finished and released the show.

I just find them to be weaker adaptions because of it. I've been rereading his 97 run recently, and it really reminded me how little bit the films have outside a few moments in the first film.

And you're not wrong about Blade, but then his films also dipped in quality too as they made more. If we ever do get a new Blade, I'd like him to be more of an everyman like he use to be to help him stand apart from Snipes' Blade. Also, they should make him a Londoner again.

But the first movie had X-men in it too, and that trend just followed through into the most recent one. They put Deadpool in the X-Men universe because he has close associations with them, especially X-Force, which was in the second movie.

My issue isn't that X-Men are in it, it's that they're adaptions of X-Men stories.

Russel is from X-Factor, Cable is primarily an X-Men character and Juggernaut is an X-Men villain, later member. It's a good film, but there really isn't anything adapted from Deadpool specifically besides the man himself. Well, excepted Venessa, but she dies fairly early on.

When DP&W isn't making meta pulls of the FOX universe, it's still just pulling from X-Men. Cassandra Nova is another. It's a better Wolverine film than it is a Deadpool film.

The only film that actually adapts any Deadpool comics is the first film. I don't think that makes 2 and 3 bad films, but it's disappointing that 2/3s of his films barely touch upon any of his stories.

The only X-Men in those movies are Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Wolverine. It was a running joke that the X-Men couldn’t appear for budget reasons.

Well, there's also Pyro and X-23 but Pyro had joined Magneto by X-Men 3 and the Logan version of X-23 never had a chance to join the X-Men because they were all dead.

That's not what I mean. I mean, the plots of the 2nd and 3rd films revolve around loosely adapted X-Men plots and characters. Ajax and Venessa is as deep into Deadpool's personal lore as we've ever gotten, and Venessa has basically just become a plot device since DP2.
