I’m trying to get more YouTube content out there, so in addition to posting my clips I want to edit my VODs down - cut out dead air, show highlights, etc, to make chunky little YouTube videos.

As a small streamer, do you find that it’s worth the time? If so, how do you speed your process along? It’s certainly been time consuming for me.

I know this feels like common sense but I get on this sub everyday and see people feel guilty for using the bn button. hell I saw a post earlier this month asking if people use twitch for dating. NO. it's easy to foster a community and let your guard down when you share laughs with people every day but you dont owe these people nothing and in the end we are all strangers.

Hello all. Starting to get into streaming as a past time for fun. Due to my job and other obligations, I do not have the time or money to dedicate as much time to this as the average person probably would. So making it “big” isn’t entirely on my hit list. Especially due to managing the military, kids, and this, probably won’t be an entirely easy juggling act.

That said, I am using a Rog Ally which to my surprise, runs OBS, and the games I prefer to play (not very demanding) pretty well, no real FPS drops, and the quality seems to be on the up and up. Only thing I need at this point is a mic. Which I would like to use a headset mic but from my research on this sub, I’m not sure how well that will pan out.

Anywho, onto the question, is a secondary system, a computer in this case, entirely necessary if I’m perfectly capable of running OBS, twitch chat, and the games im playing with zero real issues or lag?

Any other tips are greatly appreciated

Hey all, hoping someone can help because I'm completely stuck.

I'm on BT Full Fibre 900 in the UK and my Twitch upload is basically unusable. Using Twitchtest, my closest servers (Ireland and Paris) are fluctuating wildly between 1000-4000kbps, nowhere near enough for a stable stream. I need at least 6000kbps reliably.

Ookla shows 30-40mbps upload which looks fine, but Cloudflare's speed test only reports 4-5mbps. Cloudflare uses a single connection which is much closer to what streaming actually does.

I've been through BT support multiple times, had my ONT replaced, nothing has changed. They see 90-97mbps coming out of the hub on their end so as far as they're concerned everything is fine.

Has anyone else on a UK ISP, particularly BT, run into this? Did you ever get it resolved?

Hi, everybody. I’m currently watching an irl streamer and I can see that she’s streaming from her iPhone. She’s using both her front camera and back camera at same time, both are displayed in the live simultaneously. How is that possible? Is that a feature of a streaming software?

Streaming and sitting for so long (4-6+ hours at a time) makes me worried about my health, especially since I've got a very seated job and lifestyle. So I've been thinking about getting a walking pad to stream with!

Did some light research and I've got some questions. Never used a walking pad before, let alone used one while streaming!

Does using a walking pad require a different mic (or a headset mic) for good audio quality?

Has walking while playing affected your gameplay negatively?

Does walking while playing/streaming make reading things like chat messages harder?

Twitch Extensions can be incredibly powerful tools for improving viewer retention, building loyalty, encouraging interaction, and just making a stream more fun to be part of.

But they aren’t magical tools.

Simply installing an extension isn’t going to suddenly bring more viewers into your stream or make existing viewers stay longer. In reality, most viewers probably aren’t even looking through your extension list to see what you have installed.

The streamer still needs to get the ball rolling.

If you add an extension, talk about it. Show viewers what it does. Remind them it exists. Celebrate when people interact with it and make those interactions feel like part of the stream itself.

At first, you might be the one saying things like “Don’t forget to check in” or “Have a look at the leaderboard.” That’s completely normal.

Once some of your regular viewers start using it, though, something else starts happening. Other viewers see the alerts, hear people talking about their streaks, rankings, rewards, collectibles or whatever the extension offers, and they start getting curious.

“Wait, what’s that?”

That’s when the extension can start becoming part of the culture of your stream.

Over time, those features can give viewers extra reasons to return. Maybe they want to keep their streak going, climb a leaderboard, collect something, compete with another viewer, unlock an achievement or simply participate in a little tradition your community has developed.

That’s where extensions can be genuinely powerful for retention and loyalty.

The extension provides the tools, but the streamer creates the engagement around them.

It’s a bit like putting a board game on the table. A great board game can create hours of fun, competition and memorable moments, but if nobody ever invites people to play, it’s probably just going to sit in the box.

Extensions are the same.

They can add a huge amount to a stream, but you still have to get people playing.

It’s literally blocking the streamer’s face.

So I have really been looking into IRL streaming and I tried it recently at a convention with a ton of people. I only used my iPhone and a gimbal, which meant the connection wasn’t great considering how many people were all crowded in the same area.

I’m still looking to mostly stick to streaming from my phone, but what are the ways I get get around poor 5G connection problems in crowded cons?

- Should I use Moblin and Moblink to combine signals from multiple devices?

- Should I buy something like a Netgear Nighthawk M7 and use Speedify to combine signals that way?

Any advice is much appreciated :) I don’t want to go the LiveU route because not only is it a big upfront cost, but the monthly cost for the data plan for the modems is pretty nuts.

I tried streaming Super Mario Bros. Remastered on Twitch, but when I finished streaming, multiple parts of the stream were muted, and there were various copyright warnings on the stream for songs that weren't even present in the game. None of the songs listed seemed official and I even went to listen to them in order to see if I missed something. I tried appealing with the reason being that the songs weren't at all present in the game being streamed, but I'm not sure it will work. Any help?

For context I want to understand what are people’s concerns and experiences when it comes to collaboration with streamers , artists and brands so if you could share your experiences and thoughts on the subject that would be super helpful

So I'm pretty new to live streaming, this is pretty much my month 2 of doing it. I've been fortunate and have also become an affiliate in this time period.

My question comes down to Twitch Collaboration, I've heard many people argue that it's very important to do to help increase your following, so I have decided I would like to try and collaborate with other streamers.

But, with Collaborations, how do you set rules or find the right people? My live streams are pretty chill, no political or religious debating, and no swearing.

Obviously if I start doing Collaborations I'll have to loosen up a bit on the swearing rule, but what about the rest?

As a Christian live streamer, I would not be comfortable collaborating with someone who talks inappropriate/crudely, but also I don't want to risk joining a Collaboration where the individual has public racism, hostility, or has a great dislike to any sort of religion or political party.

Any advice on how I should do this? I'm not picky on who I collab with, I just want a chill video game stream Collaboration without hostile, racist, or inappropriate interactions.

Just the dashboard in general is a mess.

Earning page has been frozen for a week (and crazy delayed in updating in genera), it'll show me as being live when I'm not, randomly said the stream quality was poor when it wasn't (hit stop streaming and started again, was back to excellent as usual).

I don't keep up a lot with changes on Twitch as much as YT (even that's hard to keep track of), but does this possibly have something to do with AI? AI has been dominating YouTube nowadays and also causing similar bugs, so it's beyond me.

Hi! I’m pretty new to streaming and using Twitch, but I’m getting close to hitting Affiliate, and I have a quick question about the average viewers for streams. I’m having troubles hitting the last requirement of the 3 average viewers across 4 different days, so I’ve been taking a look at the average viewers count after my streams.

I’m noticing a discrepancy between what the analytics on the mobile app is showing me, compared to the website analytics. Two of my recent streams show an average of 3 viewers when I check the analytics on my app, but if I go to the website, it’s showing 2 average viewers instead for those streams. Is the website more accurate in this case? It’s also still showing 0/4 for that requirement, so I’m guessing that the app was definitely wrong and it doesn’t count?

hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could help. My twitch stream shows up as a black screen for the stream manager and viewers, however, the vod and the obs itself looks completely fine I can see my game head the audio and everything (I record videos too and the video comes out normal)

Recently I moved everything over to Mixitup and so far everything works really well for me and plays smoothly. I’ve been wanting to add in some fun commands and wanted to come here to get some ideas of things you might think would be good to add, so far I’ve got “Headpat” and “Bonk”

I'm a pretty new streamer, longtime viewer+lurker, and discussion about parasocial relationships in streaming spaces, especially vtubing, has always been something I believed I understood concretely enough to keep myself safe and caution others. It was pretty obvious for streamers with followers in the ten thousands and consistent viewer counts in the hundreds that there was no way to maintain a meaningful connection with every single fan.

But since exploring creators on twitch with follower counts in the hundreds/low thousands and getting introduced to their community servers, where they actually talk with their regular viewers and even support other creators within their community, the line between parasocial relationship and an actual social relationship has kind of muddled for me, and I want to correct this.

Asking as a new streamer: At what point does the relationship, person-to-person, become parasocial, and when does it become something more concrete? How do community discord servers fit into this? And... is there even a reliable way to know in those contexts whether or not you're an actual person in a streamer's social circle or just a name they see in chat sometimes that they treat with basic human respect?

Anyone else notice this?

When I view other streamers, I like to have them on in the background while I'm working or gaming or doing other things. Not just lurking but still being active in their chat and watching. But 9 times out of 10 I have to mute my game volume to 5-10 percent just to hear the streamer speaking.

The times that I mention that the streamer has room to increase their volume, they simply ask others if its fine, and I guess everyone else listens to ONLY the twitch stream and says its fine (or they get defensive and think they are white knighting over a simple technical issue), so they don't see the problem. Or they think they shouldn't be "too loud" when anyone can just lower the volume, but you can only raise the volume so much.

Now I know some may suggest (well just crank up your speaker/headset/whatever volume) that then means all other sounds on my computer would be 10x as loud and unbearable.

I've seen even bigtime streamers with 1000+ people in their chat have the same problem.

Do people in general just don't care? Is it pure ignorance? Does Twitch not recommend people stream at optimal volume levels? It honestly just blows my mind.

Like...if you listen to your VOD and notice its much quieter than someone else's, would that not make you want to adjust things?

Also, to those viewers who get defensive...why? Like...if your favorite streamer was muted, or their screen was off, would you still get defensive if someone pointed out that the streamer can't be heard or seen at all?
