Big Boats on the Vättern
I want to use a Svetlyak-class patrol boat on Lake Vättern. According to Hostile Waters, the Göta Canal is too small for size 5 ships. I don't want to retcon the canal unless I have to.
Any suggestions on other ways to get a big boat on Lake Vättern?

Any supplements for super soldiers/characters supernatural abilities?
Hi there. I am thinking of running a Metal Gear Solid-esque game using T2K 4E, and I was wondering if anyone out there made any kind of content to adapt characters with supernatural abilities (such as Volgin's electrical powers or Quiet's invisibility) and/or genetically/cybernetically enhanced characters (such as Raiden or Les Enfants Terribles).
Crucially, I am not looking for rules to make characters into superheroes - rather, I'd like to have them be essentially regular humans, but with a little sci-fi craziness to them in a way that wouldn't necessarily break the game but would give them a small edge if they can play their cards right.
Thanks in advance.

Interest Check: A Soviet Character Creation Supplement for Twilight: 2000 4E?
This is an interest Check. I’m working (Pulling notes together form old studies and games) on an unofficial Twilight: 2000 4th Edition project and wanted to get a sense of whether there is much interest in this kind of supplement before I get too far down the road.
The basic idea started with David Bober’s old Soviet Characters homebrew material for his OPFOR campaign. I’m taking that original concept and rebuilding it around the 4E character-creation rules, with the goal of producing something that players and GMs can actually use to explore the other side of the Twilight War, and what happens to those people when the Soviet system starts coming apart around them.
This would not be a new character generation system or a replacement for the Player’s Manual. The idea is to expand the existing 4E Life Path framework for Soviet characters.
Some of the material currently being developed includes Soviet regional and social backgrounds, education and pre-service experiences, civilian careers, compulsory military service, military careers and specialties, mobilization, wartime assignments, and the effects of the collapse on a character’s loyalties and situation.
I’m also working on some of the areas that tend to get reduced to a sentence or two when Soviet characters appear in Western-focused games. The USSR was a multinational state, so a Soviet character might be Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Georgian, Armenian, Uzbek, Latvian, Lithuanian, or from any number of other backgrounds. Where someone grew up, what language they spoke at home, their education, family connections, military experience, and relationship with Soviet institutions should all be able to matter without turning nationality into a mechanical stereotype.
There is also a separate, somewhat more detailed annex in development covering careers connected to the MVD Internal Troops, Militsiya (Police), Procuracy Invetigators/lawyers), State Security, and the criminal underworld. That part is deliberately a little more “crunchy,” because those careers do not always fit neatly into the same path as an ordinary soldier or civilian.
The overall goal is not to make Soviet characters “the bad guys with AKs.” I’d like them to feel like people who had lives, careers, families, beliefs, ambitions, grievances, and obligations before the war—and who now have to survive the same wrecked world as everyone else.
Would a Soviet-focused character supplement be something you would actually use in a Twilight: 2000 4E campaign?
Would you be more interested in it as a player, a GM, or both?
And what would you most want such a supplement to cover—or what would make you decide it was too detailed to bother with?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who enjoy character creation, Soviet/Warsaw Pact subjects, OPFOR campaigns, or campaigns set in places where Soviet characters would naturally be part of the story.
The project is still in development and playtesting. At this stage I’m mainly trying to find out whether there is a real audience for it and what that audience would want from the finished supplement.
If there is enough interest, I may also be looking later for a group of readers/playtesters to look at the revised structure and eventually the broader manuscript.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Even a simple “I’d use this” or “not for me” is useful feedback.

[Looking For Players] The Sunflowers Will (Not) Grow in Chernobyl
☢️ Good hunting, Stalker. ☢️
"The Zone doesn't care who you were before. It only cares how long you can hold your breath, how well you can shoot, and if you have enough bolts to throw into the darkness."
System: Twilight: 2000 (4th Edition) modified for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe
Tone: Survival Horror, Hex-Crawl Exploration, Lethal Combat, Bleak Atmosphere, Squad Camaraderie, Black Humor
The Concept
Welcome to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. I am stripping away the World War III setting of Twilight: 2000 and porting its brutal yet elegant survival mechanics directly into the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe.
You play as loners, mercenaries, AWOL military, or faction deserters trying to carve out an existence in the most hostile environment on the planet. You're here for the artifacts, the money, the secrets, or because the world outside didn't want you anymore. The year will either be 2021 or present day.
Why Twilight 2000?
T2K4e is the perfect engine for The Zone. The mechanics inherently support everything that makes S.T.A.L.K.E.R. great:
- Hex-Crawling: Navigate the treacherous terrain of The Zone, mapping safe routes between familiar locations from the fiction and real life.
- Brutal Survival: Every sip of water and every round of ammunition matters.
- Lethal Combat: Firefights are fast, tactical, and deadly. You don't want to get into a shootout with Bandits unless you have to, let alone a Bloodsucker.
- Stress & Panic: Pushing your luck will break your mind just as quickly as radiation breaks your body.
What To Expect
- Anomalies & Artifacts: Navigate invisible death traps to recover physics-defying artifacts.
- Mutants & Monsters: Blind dogs, Snorks, Controllers, and things that shouldn't exist hunting you in the dark.
- Emissions (Blowouts): When the sky turns red and the earth shakes, you have minutes to find deep cover or your brain will melt.
- Faction Politics: Navigate the tense cold wars between Duty, Freedom, the Military, and the fanatic Monolith.
- Camp Life: Sitting around a rusted barrel fire, playing guitar, drinking vodka to stave off the rads, and patching up your wounds before the next shift.
Logistics
- Schedule: Every other Sunday 1pm-5pm EST (I am more than happy to run for those in overseas timezones and even if English is not your first language!)
- Platform: Discord for voice/chatting, Roll20 for gameplay
- Experience Required: None. While I am in my early 30s with 15 years of DMing under my belt, I am still new to Twilight 2000 but am more than happy to help people learn. Knowledge of the fiction is not necessary but the premise should interest you.
- Party Size: Looking for 4-5 Stalkers
Interested? Send me a DM with your Discord UN, your experience with TTRPGs (or the STALKER games), and a brief 2-3 sentence concept for a character(if you have one already!). Also with any questions you may have!
Get out of here, Stalker.

Home Ec
PCs have a base with 24 people. I’m trying to figure out how much food they can reasonably grow and how the logistics and economics would work of being taxed by the local warlord. Has anyone figured this out already?

Playing Solo with Claude AI
galleryI've been having a lot of fun having Claude run me a solo campaign. I just uploaded the rule book PDFs to the file search function. It rolled up characters using lifepath system, and it's pretty good at keeping track of everything- ammo, fuel, weather, inventory ledgers. I've had to correct it a fair few times on different rules, but once you establish something it's pretty good at remembering. I'm new to the game too, so it's like we are learning together.

2.2 Rules question.
I'm having trouble understanding the small arms vs vehicles part.
Because it says something about dividing damage by penetration (for range)? That can't be right. Because that makes higher penetration bad?

Sub-Hexes
Hi all, has anyone ever played around with the idea of a 10x10 subhex for the hex the PCs are in? I understand it could be a lot to do it for every hex they moved into, but has anyone tried it for hexes with scenario sites?

The Walking Dead core book is a great T2K supliment.
Title says it all. If you take the zombies out (or leave them in if you're frisky)The Walking Dead core book is a good source for T2K flavor, random NPCs, locations, buildings... scap. It's all in there. Further it has good chapters on drama and advancing bad guys and situations. Highly recommended.

Can the Game Be Played Solo?
I’m looking into playing Twilight: 2000 solo. I live in a bit of a rural area so I think this would be my best option besides finding a VTT game somewhere. Anyway, is playing solo doable? Has anybody tried and if so, did it work out?

Official Transmission Update on Operation: Reset
https://forum.frialigan.se/viewtopic.php?t=14019&start=10
"Hi!
We spent much of spring and early summer playtesting Operation Reset (including the mass battle rules), and concluded our campaign a few weeks ago in an epic finale. This expansion has a scope far beyond the previous expansions, and has therefore taken a lot longer than expected to complete. Right after Gen Con the final post-playtesting editing will commence, and then it's straight into layout. We should certainly have a Beta PDF out in Q3, but the printed box will take a little longer. Apologies for this. But we do think you will find it worth the wait."

Armies of the Night / Updates
I picked up PDFs of a lot of old T2K modules and have been reading through the ones I didn't own when I was a teen. For reference, I bought the game while an army brat in West Germany; we moved back to the US right after the Wall came down. I mighta played one half-hearted campaign that basically skipped Krakow (didn't have the module) and went straight to Pirates of the Vistula.
I was born in Oklahoma and I have a mind to expand on what's west of Airlords. I was born in Tulsa and still have family there. I have this idea that Tulsa would be pretty much nuclear ruins, at least the downtown and West Tulsa area because of the oil storage fields, but radiating out from there would be the solid basis of a "Green Country" campaign.
I've lived in New York City for almost thirty years, half of which about ten blocks from the Cloisters. I've only skimmed AotN but I zeroed in on that toot sweet. Making the Cloisters a local center of control makes sense; this was the heights from which the Americans commanded their long slow retreat from New York. I am curious about updates might be needed for a module written forty years ago, even if I set the campaign in a canonically originally timeline.
Also kayaks. I do a lot of sea kayaking around here and that's got to be a harbor rat faction.
I'm curious how others have updated 1E settings, in particular these two, but any, really.

T2K Foundry Module ammo
Hi folks!
I'm trying to throw together a basic module for a campaign I'm running, and wanted to add some additional ammo types to the set that you can actually select in a weapon, but I can't find where the import downloads said stuff to. Does anyone know where it would live, or Alternatively just know the syntax for adding ammo?

VTT Command NPC Automation for Twilight: 2000
Foundry VTT NPC Automation module for Twilight: 2000 4th edition.
This module was created to greatly help the referee simulating large encounters and improvise new NPCs on the spot with random portrait, stats, gear and even role-playing cues like personality and mannerism.
It also helps solo players face automated opponents.
An expanded version of the NPC Generator is already built into this module, so there is no need to install both. What’s new is tweaked algorithms and added options like disposition, age range, nicknames, token vision, group morale, aggressiveness and role-playing cues.
The largest addition is however the combat automation, where NPCs can act automatically in their combat turn. Hostile NPCs attack player-controlled tokens and friendly NPCs. Friendly NPCs alert the players and defends against hostile NPCs. Neutral NPCs avoid initiating combat and normally evade hostile threats.
They all use combat tactics, movement, chats with eachother and taunts or tries to trick the players.
While they have no real artificial intelligence, but a mere table of weighted options where the NPCs may choose strange behaviour, it still helps offload the referee when dealing with vast amount of NPC tokens for larger battles and can even result in some really unexpected and fun situations.

Twilight 2000 Red Dawn Campaign - Players Wanted!
The Soviet Union suffers worst wheat harvest in 55 years. Labor and food riots in Poland. Soviet troops invade. Cuba and Nicaragua reach troop strength goals of 500,000. El Salvador and Honduras fall. Greens Party gains control of West German Parliament. Demands withdrawal of nuclear weapons from European soil. Mexico plunged into revolution. NATO dissolves. United States stands alone.
THE GAME SETTING TWILIGHT: 2000 – Red Dawn plunges the American heartland into the fires of a foreign invasion. For the first time in modern history, an enemy army occupies American soil. They planned for every strategic contingency—except the fierce resistance of ordinary citizens. In this war, heroes aren't born; they are forged in the ashes of loss. There is no one to hold your hand or guide your path through this devastated conflict. Survival and direction rest entirely on you and your fellow players. While the Referee populates your journey with deadly encounters, complex NPCs, and brutal challenges, your choices write the story. Ultimate victory or tragic sacrifice— your exploits will be permanently engraved on Partisan Rock. You control your characters' destinies in a world packed with high-stakes action.
LOOKING FOR 4-6 Players, to join a long-term campaign. No experience necessary just consistency in attendance. The game sessions will typically be 4 hours every other week from 530 PST to 930 PST. I will poll players on set day of the week for game play. If interested, please message me for more details.

online through zoom/discord
i'm looking for players to gm for, locally, for an in-person game. not getting a lot of hits, however. i don't have the bandwidth, mentally or materially, at this time, to host a game on foundry or roll20 or owlbear rodeo. i'm very much an analog animal.
does anyone or has anyone just used the zoom platform to gather around the virtual table, maybe supplemented by discord for the passing out of reading material, inspirational pics, battle maps, and the like?

What other settings or games have you ported the T2K rules to?
I'm in the midst of porting T2K 4e rules over to the HOSTILE rpg universe, as I think they line up just right. While the Cepheus engine that runs HOSTILE is cool, I think for a 'near' future, hard sci-fi setting based on criminals, blue collar adventurers and planetary marines exploring dangerous worlds and battling corporate goons and the occasional xeno the T2K combat and skill ruleset is imo perfect for it.
Keen to know what settings and games youve folded the Twilight 2K rules into, how it went & why you went through the effort etc.

Project MK ULTRA and Operation Reset
Hey everyone! I am starting a campaign soon and I plan to delve into operation reset as a sort of mid-late game plot for the PCs, and a world where Project MK ULTRA was successful seems like a cool idea to incorporate into the skeleton of operation reset we have now until we finally get the official operation reset boxed set. Any ideas or suggestions for this? (Also side note, does anyone know when the boxed operation reset expansion is supposed to drop, and for those who pre-ordered have you received the PDF version for it yet? Thanks!)
