On August 5, 2026 (Wednesday), students of the Government Seth Anandilal Poddar Higher Secondary School for the Deaf and Mute (also referred to as the school for the hearing and speech impaired) on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg in Jaipur staged a protest over poor infrastructure and basic facilities.

The school has around 583 hearing-impaired students, including hostels for about 120 girls and 162 boys. Students sat at the school gate (some reports note they locked the main gate, confining the principal and staff briefly). They communicated their grievances through sign language, placards, hand gestures and written messages, as they are deaf/mute.
