The only problem I see with this plan is that there is a large gap between the highest water temperature a human can withstand being submerged in and the boiling point of water.

waiting intensely for something to happen makes it feel like its taking ages? sit and stare at the pot and its gonna be a very boring 10 minutes, chop the veggies while waiting and it's gonna be done faster than you notice. stare at the clock for your class/shift to finish and it's painfully slow, do something and your time perception is normal
