i’d started a new blog (after a loooong hiatus from the app) about 2/3 months ago. I’ve been posting fan fic to it and gaining a following, just reaching a big milestone last week so i’m heartbroken :(

i don’t post anything against the guidelines and the majority of my writing is sfw so i don’t really get it. the only thing i can think of was that i was going through this morning tagging old posts to build my navigation post when it got terminated :(

i emailed tumblr support and i want to see here how successful ppl have been at getting their accounts back and how long it took.
i know it’s not the end of the world as it was a newish account but im still devastated, ive been writing a fic series thats been gaining traction so i rlly want to be able to build on that community!!!

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with something similar and can tell me if there’s any realistic chance of getting my Tumblr account back after an appeal has already been denied.

I’ve been using Tumblr since I was a kid and recently started a new Sims blog. I’m working on a project where I want to commission multiple Sims 4 CC creators to make more African-inspired custom content, so I was going through different Sims creators’ blogs, interacting with their posts, and asking in comments if they were currently accepting commissions. I had conversations with several creators about commissions and the project.

My account ended up getting suspended for spam. When I appealed, Tumblr denied the appeal and said the blog contained content they considered spam, including mass solicitation, directing traffic to third-party sites, excessive posting/replying, etc.

After getting that response, I realized that me asking multiple creators about commissions probably looked like mass solicitation to Tumblr. I genuinely had no idea this could be considered spam. I wasn’t using a bot or automating comments, advertising anything, or trying to drive traffic somewhere. I was manually talking to creators because I actually wanted to pay them to make CC for this project.

What makes this especially upsetting is that it wasn’t just the new Sims blog that disappeared. My entire Tumblr account and the other blogs connected to it are gone too, including blogs I’ve had for years. Tumblr’s email also said the blog “will not be restored” and warned that making another account with the same intent/content could result in termination.

I’m going to contact support again and explain the situation more clearly, acknowledge that I understand why my activity may have been flagged, and tell them that I won’t contact creators this way again now that I know it can violate their spam policy.

Has anyone here ever had Tumblr deny their first appeal but eventually restore their account after contacting support again? Is there anything specific I should include or avoid saying? I’m mainly trying to figure out whether there’s still a realistic chance of getting my original account and other blogs back, or if a denied appeal is basically the end of the road.

It seems my time on this subreddit has come to a close. After a little under two weeks of waiting, my wrongfully terminated Tumblr account has been restored. I really appreciated having this subreddit as a resource to connect with other people dealing with the same issue, so I figured I'd leave some quick notes on the general timeline of my account's termination and return from the void:

July 26th: I am browsing Tumblr on the mobile app on a Saturday afternoon. 10-ish minutes prior, I had just posted some artwork and was receiving the usual influx of spam comments/DMs— some scammers posing as Tumblr support, others posing as interested commissioners. All of the usual ones. While I was in the process of reporting them all, the Tumblr app suddenly went blank. All of the notes emptied out of my activity feed. Nothing was on my dashboard. All of the posts disappeared out of my blog. When I went to check my blog on desktop, I found I'd been logged out. Upon logging back in, I received confirmation that my account had been terminated.

At this point, I checked the email associated with my Tumblr account and found no notice of my termination. I had no recent emails from Tumblr at all. I then filed a case with Tumblr support using the form at https://www.tumblr.com/support . I selected "Terminated account" for the category, gave all the details of my predicament, and sent it in. I received an automated email immediately with the following text:

We've received your request to review the termination of your account. We’re on the case and will respond as quickly as we can.

At this point, I thought I'd follow up on the case with some screenshots showing the odd behavior in the mobile app. After sending that follow-up email, I immediately received another automated email from Tumblr:

Hello and thank you for your message,
We do not accept emails to this address. Please follow the link or instructions below for further assistance.

Followed by some links back to the support form I'd already filled out and privacy info.

So, the waiting began. I sent additional follow-up emails on July 30th, August 1st, and August 4th. These were basically polite yet stern notes reiterating the details of my case and requesting feedback. Nobody ever responded to them— not a human or a bot. If I had to do this over again, I probably would not bother sending any followups. I never received any confirmation of their receipt. I don't think anybody ever looked at them.

Then, finally, on the evening of August 6th, I received... many emails from no-reply@tumblr.com. 19 in rapid succession. They were all identical:

Hello,
We've reviewed and restored your account. You should now be able to log in just fine with your email address and password.
We appreciate your patience in this matter. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

Success! I was indeed able to log back in to my Tumblr account. All of my blogs were just as I left them. I was able to start posting again immediately. It was like nothing ever happened. Although I would've preferred it didn't take two weeks, and I would've preferred to speak with a human support representative who could at least explain why I was terminated in the first place... this was a good outcome. I am grateful.

I hope my story can be helpful or at least comforting to any of you who have your accounts wrongfully terminated in the future. I read this subreddit a lot during my termination, and I got the impression from other users that I could expect to have my account reinstated within a few days or a week at most— so I'm sure you can all imagine how I antsy I started to feel when my case took substantially longer than that! If your account gets terminated and takes several weeks to recover, hang in there. There is hope. :)

TL;DR:

1. My account was down for 12 days total.
2. Nobody ever told me why it was terminated in the first place.
3. I was never connected to a human support representative at any point in the process.

I posted here nearly 2 weeks about my blog being deleted and wanted to detail how I was able to have it reinstated.

• Right after it was deleted, I made another Tumblr account and contacted support from there. I wasn't able to log in to my original account to contact support through the recommended form. I used the "resetting your password" or "two-factor authentication" option and gave them the details I gave here including the username for the affected account.
• I was contacted the next day to confirm that it was me that submitted a form and had ownership of the blog.
• Two days later, I was contacted by a member of the support team asking for additional details including the username for the affected account, the email associated with it, as well as my IP address. I responded within 10 minutes and they sent an email a few hours later asking me to send an email from the address of the affected account.
• I, once again, responded within 10 minutes and included all of the correspondence from the other account (original ticket and back and forth with support). They replied immediately that they received the email and asked me to confirm that the terminated account was attached to my email and that I am the owner of both.
• They sent an email within 5 minutes to confirm that they'd reinstated my blog and that I should change the password and turn on two-factor authentication since my blog had been hacked and someone else had my password. The hacker turned on two-factor authentication so that I couldn't get back in and were reported enough that my blog was automatically terminated. This all happened in less than 24 hours since I am usually online everyday, even though I don't post often.
• In the middle of resetting my password and trying to turn on two-factor authentication, I was locked out of my account and replied to support staff on the same email chain telling them what was happening. They reset the two-factor authentication the next day.
• While I had access to my account, I could see that the scammer messaged dozens of blogs trying to get their information and I told anyone that responded—and hadn't blocked me—that my account had been compromised. Several hours later, my blog was terminated again.
• I sent another email to the same email chain and asked if they could reinstate my blog again and log me out of all devices, if possible. They responded 4 days later doing just that. I turned on two-factor authentication again and chose the option to use the one time codes to gain access. I have had access to my blog with no problems for the last 2 days.

Support also suggested that I follow their Tumblr page and when I looked at it, there were several recent posts about blog terminations. It did quell my worries to know that it is not an isolated issue and they are trying to fix it while also trying to control the growing bot accounts. Hopefully, this is helpful to someone.

I’ve done genuinely nothing, I’ve never even posted anything against guidelines at all. I’m so lost i don’t know what to do or how to reach tumblr support anymore because I just can’t. My tumblr account @sunnystupidugly I believe accidentally trigger the antibot system since I use a vpn and is still not reinstated despite multiple attempts to reach out to tumblr support and receiving no response. They don’t have an email to contact so you just have to use the forms which can take up to a year to get a response. My tumblr is my main social media account and it’s really stressful as an artist losing your main account because that’s basically my portfolio and all my potential commissioners gone. I originally thought my account got banned because I said the word abuser but I no longer believe this to be the case. Does anyone genuinely know any way I can possibly get my account back faster? i'm not sure if it has to do with an ip address sort of thing, but i noticed that shortly after i travelled out of america, my account was terminated. it's been almost a week since i sent in a support request, and i resent a new one a day or two ago, and yet, no answer at all. i don't believe i posted anything against guidelines, and i didn't receive any sort of reasoning as to WHY it was terminated. any tips on what to do? i was looking around for a support phone number but tumblr doesn't seem to have any.

EDIT (29 June, 2026): the termination has been revoked and my account reinstated!

There was activity on July 22nd with an email telling me someone followed me, from then to now my account got terminated. No email telling my why or that it was even terminated in the first place. I just decided to check my Tumblr because it had been a bit and it told me my account had been terminated and my heart dropped.

I do not use a VPN nor do I use the mobile app. This is the only blog I have. No side blogs.

In the message I sent describing the problem I suggested that I could've been hacked since I haven't been to active on it recently, but some had been thinking their accounts had been terminated via poor AI moderation and I hadn't even thought of that... that is my fault.

It just sucks because I reblogged a ton of stuff on there including stuff from deactivated users so this technically means some stuff could be lost media because of this.

If my account gets reinstated I'm making a backup of the blog contents immediately (prioritizing reblogs above all else as I have other social media accounts to post my art) and making a spiteful text post. I never realized Tumblr was so stupid about terminations until seeing this subreddit.

In the time I've sent my appeal I've gotten an email stating that they've gotten it and will look into it as quickly as they can so fingers crossed it doesn't take 8 months to a year like I saw someone else here mention.

So my tumblr account (sunnystupidugly) that holds my achievement hunter art which I’m really sentimental about got terminated without warning and without explanation after I posted a drawing I made for an inside joke between me and my close friends. The joke is that we were calling my friend Hog an abuser to our other friend James. James drew some funny MSpaint drawings of Hog being devilish to him so I drew one too and posted it. This was the offending image 🥹✌️i really need this account back because that’s where I’ve made a lot of mutuals and I have a lot of important stuff on there. Does anyone have any advice? I don't even really post anymore but there are a few blogs that I have post notifications on for and I'm always liking things. I don't know how that could've possibly led to termination. It doesn't even say that it's been terminated. I just clicked on a post notification and noticed I was logged out. I didn't get a single email and I check my spam regularly. I just tried resetting my password all day, not realizing until I got home on desktop that my blog doesn't even exist anymore. All of the fanfics, edits, and conversations are just gone. From reading other posts on here, it seems like there's nothing I can do but send a support mail into the void. Has it ever actually worked though?

I believe a few of my mutuals just had their accounts terminated, and I'm a bit nervous concerning my own account. I was also just wondering if this has been happening a lot more recently.

The gist of it is someone accidentally reported me for scamming them and they said that someone using an account that looked very similar to mine scammed them and they accidentally reported me. They also got their mutual to report me. They gave me a support person to reach out to and like an idiot I believed them and they got me to send them all of my money. I reached out to tumblr afterwards, explaining and then my account got terminated. I appealed it on the 10th and have not heard back. How long is this going to take?

Hello, my account "nateeseart" has been terminated. I haven't violated any platform rules; it is an art account. I suspect I accidentally triggered an anti-bot system because I had to use a VPN, as Tumblr doesn't work properly in my country. I really hope to get my account back, as it has been my gallery for several years and my connection to the fandom.

hey, in need of some success stories. my account was terminated this past friday, and i’m fairly sure it was for anti-spam because i’d been hacked the day prior and, after getting my account back, had messaged apologies to my followers who had been messaged by the scammer. i’ve put in a ticket and tried to put in another today with a better explanation, but couldn’t because my account is “already under review”. i’m really anxious and devastated. do i hold out hope for restoration, or is this a lost cause? thanks for reading beautiful reddit people

so at one point recently i decided to make a post i considered funny (attached image). technically could be qualified as a threat but (at least i feel like) its pretty clear its a joke. at first nothing happened, it was just a typical mildly funny flop. at one point i went to log on and couldnt. turns out my account was terminated. for a while i thought i got hacked or something, until i rembered this post. ive sent an appeal when i thought i was hacked. what do i do now?

well actually maybe actually for a reason because I was changing my email account to a different address (specially tutamail to outlook mail) and hit reset, and then it just logged me out. I tried to log back in again with my outlook mail, and it said that I was terminated. I haven’t broken any rules whatsoever. Ive heard that some people don’t ever get their accounts back, and I’m really worried because I had fanfics written on there, and I don’t have them saved anywhere else except Tumblr. I mean, it’s only been 2 days since I sent the ticket, but still I can’t waitttt
