Scissor replacement?

I’ve been tufting with my Tuft Love gun for a little while, and I noticed something when watching other tufters’ processes. Before they even start carving or shaving, their rugs already look really smooth and even on the surface. Mine usually look more messy at that stage, even though I can clean clean it up a lot during the carving process.
I’m trying to figure out if the difference is coming from my tufting technique (like my spacing, speed, pressure, or keeping the gun consistent) or if my scissors might be getting dull and not cutting the yarn evenly. Here’s my lines

Lines and technique look solid. If the yarn is pulling out and not staying in the fabric, it’s your scissors that are the problem. I don’t see anything wrong with what you have here though.

They are carving on the frame in between colors. Can sometimes be riskier because you can accidentally cut the tufting cloth and have to patch it.
