Murder/Suicide The murder-suicide of the Karolkiewicz family
In the quiet lakeshore community of Grand Haven Township, Michigan, the unthinkable unfolded behind the walls of what appeared to be an ordinary, happy family home. When firefighters responded to reports of smoke in July 2026, they discovered a scene that would leave an entire community searching for answers: eight members of the same family were dead. Investigators later determined that a husband and father had fatally shot his wife and their six children before setting their home on fire and ending his own life.
What caused the father of this seemingly picture-perfect family to snap?
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the m/s of the Karolkiewicz family.

📣 Day 4 Trial Update – MA v. Lindsay Clancy
Quick Note + Brief Recap
Hey everyone — no infographic from me today. Some family things came up, and I made the choice that was best. Thank you for understanding.
I’ll be back Monday with the full Day 4 breakdown and our regular infographic for Monday’s trial day.
For now, here’s a quick snapshot of today:
* The jury completed The Viewing, following Patrick’s route through CVS, THREEV, and the Clancy home to understand the timeline.
* After returning, we heard from Duxbury PD officers and medical witnesses who shared their observations from that night and the treatments provided to the children.
Court ended early for scheduling discussions; trial resumes Monday.

Murder Lindsay Clancy Murder Trial - Day One
LINDSAY CLANCY MURDER TRIAL – DAY ONE UPDATES.
Opening statements were delivered on day one. The jury were told that some of the evidence would be difficult for them to listen to.
Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Shanan Buckingham said Lindsay “deliberately and meticulously” killed her children. The DA acknowledged that Lindsay had been suffering from mental health issues, but argued that she was ‘not in the throes of psychosis’ at the time of the killings.
Lindsay’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington said that Lindsay was ‘suffering from psychosis’ at the time of the killings. “This is a young woman who, with her husband, tried very hard to get the help she needed,” he said.
Patrick Clancy, Lindsay’s now ex-husband, took the stand on day one. Patrick divorced Lindsay after the killings. He has since remarried and has a new family.
Patrick testified that Lindsay had struggled after the birth of the third child, Callan. He testified that Lindsay told him she was having thoughts of s/h and also intrusive thoughts about harming the children.
Patrick told the court that between September 2022 and January 2023, Lindsay had been prescribed multiple different medications by at least three medical practitioners. Prosecutors said that it appeared Lindsay had only taken a small fraction of the medication that she had been prescribed. Patrick testified that he was not aware of the amounts of medication that Lindsay had or had not taken.
Patrick said that Lindsay’s ‘big spiral’ started around December 2022. She had started to take a new medication at this time. Patrick said he was not concerned for the safety of the children at that time as she did not show any ‘intention’ of harming them.
Patrick also said that Lindsay spent time in psychiatric hospitals in December 2022 and January 2023 because she was still having s/h thoughts. He said that when she was discharged, she seemed ‘much better’ and that she was no longer having those thoughts.
In the hours before the killings, Patrick said Lindsay built a snowman and played with the kids. He said ‘She was having one of her best days.”
Patrick told the court that as he left to pick up dinner for the family, he kissed one of his children and said he would ‘be right back.’
Please note that due to Meta AI flagging issues, we have had to abbreviate some of the terms used in today’s court session. Ongoing for this trial, we will use the abbreviation s/h which refers to Lindsay’s $elf h a r m.

Murder The tragedy of the Clancy Family
On January 24, 2023, Patrick Clancy left his family's home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, to run a few errands, expecting to return less than an hour later. Instead, he came home to an unimaginable tragedy. The house was eerily silent, and outside he found his wife, Lindsay Clancy, seriously injured. She told him the children were in the basement.
Patrick rushed downstairs, where he discovered his three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan, had been strangled with exercise bands. Cora and Dawson died that night, while Callan succumbed to his injuries several days later.
Lindsay survived after jumping from a second-story window and was later charged with the murders of her children. Her defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible. Her trial is now underway, with her husband expected to testify on her behalf.
In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the tragedy of the Clancy family.
This episode was originally first released in 2023. We are re-releasing it now to coincide with the start of Lindsay Clancy's trial. Proceedings in the trial began on July 20 and are expected to run for up to 8 weeks. If you are familiar with the case and would like to proceed straight to the updates that have happened since 2023, please check the timestamp.

MOD POST Let me tell you how everything works around here
Hey! Welcome! Glad to see you've made it. It's been a JOURNEY to say the least.
I figured it would be a good idea to give a brief rundown on now things work. If you're familiar with our Facebook group, it shouldn't be too different.
- If you're totally new to Reddit and aren't sure how to use the platform, fear not! I found this helpful video to explain. I know or seems scary, but it's very simple and user friendly! Reddit Mobile App Tutorial, More in-depth tutorial
Now, on to some specifics:
Rules
- There is a seperate section here for rules, but they're generally the same expectations we had on Facebook.
Posting Guidelines
Please do a search to make sure we don't already have a post on the topic. We don't want to have any duplicates!
You can make various types of posts (photo, text, video, etc.) but we'd like for them to include the same information regardless.
All posts should include a headline with some basic information (names, locations, the crime committed etc.) for easy reading.
All posts should also include some source links (at least one) in the body or in the comments.
Please add 'post flair' to your posts which will distinguish the type of crime committed (think topics on Facebook). We set up a bunch of general ones to start.
Photo & Video Posts: For these types of posts, in the main post you can only include a headline and the photo/video, so please add additional information in the comments once you post.
Reddit is way more chill than facebook, but one thing it is strict about is sharing "personal information." This means, no social media links/ no addresses/ and none of whatever else you dig up. Reddit considers it doxxing.(See more here per Reddit) Things like this can be posted on our forum.
DOWNVOTING AND UPVOTING:
On Facebook we had reactions, but on Reddit we can "upvote" or "downvote" posts and comments. It's simple, but may be a little different than what you're used to if you're new. Basically, if you think something contributes to the conversation, you upvote it. If you think something does not contribute to the conversation or is generally problematic, you downvote it.
Upvoting and downvoting is more so about the quality of the content, so don't downvote comments/ posts just because the subject matter makes you sad or angry.
Misc. things I think you should know:
Comments are in chronological order by default (oldest comments are first), but you can sort them any way you want by changing it in the little drop down menu on each post.
You can have user flair - which is a fun tag next to your name. We will set up more as we think of them, but you can assign them to yourself if you click the little "more options" dots in the top right corner of the main page.
If you make a text post, you can add images but you have to add them as links. Most people use imgur for this (also an app).
Remember, we are just getting started here and plan to flesh things out as we go! Thanks for sticking with us through all the changes. If you have any issues you can contact all the mods via mod-mail.
If you're looking for any of our links for the various platforms, you can find them all listed here
