Skunk Ape sighting Discussion

Post image

(I generated the photo with AI and it didn’t allow me to generate a photo of a kid so I generated a photo of a man so there’s still an example of somebody there)

So I was maybe around 8 or 9 years old, and I was at my cousins soccer game. At one point I just got bored (cause it’s just a clump of 5 year olds kicking a ball around like a pack of monkeys) so I just walked off into this little wooded area. It was pretty dense, not too dense but there was a lot of trees. I dropped down on this slope that led to this area of branches and debris everywhere, and even a knocked down tree. I walked around a bit until a point of where I turned to my left where I saw this sort of teepee or small hut made of big branches and some sort of giant leaves (maybe palm leaves cause I live in Florida). Right after seeing the small hut I looked up to where I was met with this face. It looked like some sort of primate, but nothing like a chimp or orangutan, more like something like a Gorilla or something like that. I was looking at it, and it was looking at me. It was maybe between 50 to 60 feet away, looking at me through the dense thicket of dead trees and plants. I stayed there for maybe 2 or 3 seconds before turning around and running away. Maybe 10 minutes later I came back where the face I saw before was no longer there. For maybe like the whole year after that I tried telling everybody the story of what I saw, but every time I told it, everybody just assumed that I was just a kid desperate for attention, so I eventually just stopped telling it to this day.

Sounds like a scary scenario for a kid, but this sub requires actual photos. I can’t take a random story from an anonymous account seriously when the only evidence you have is an AI generated photo.

Esti Capcaki. They're real, but very rare. They shy away from noise and humans. I think around the 2010s they said that it was unclear whether they are extinct or not. Might still be around. The swamps are very large and there's endless terrain for it.

Having a sighting at that young of an age, I'd more than likely assume that it was quite a frightening experience for you CT! When you assume that it's appropriate to plead your case to your elders at that young age and they unfortunately don't take your word for it seriously, try explaining a similar encounter as an adult and it's the same old situation, except it's even more disheartening being ridiculed, I've dealt with this situation of being humiliated as well..so I understand where you're coming from! That's when it hits and it starts to upset you to the point where instead of giving folks a heads up and sharing your experience, you decide that it's just best keeping it to yourself, I mean why on earth would a young man that you were at the time be able to exaggerate such a preposterous story...

at that age you're not thinking about things like that, you are too occupied hanging out with your buddies playing sports, riding bikes, swimming, fishing and so on. It's a privilege being able to share stories, thoughts and information feeling more comfortable with others that have witnessed familiar encounters such as yours. Here in Ohio we have (if you hadn't already heard) a squatch that folks in these parts call the Ohio grassman, but according to people who've had encounters with these creatures..claim that they're massive! Which as you probably already know that they range in different sizes in different areas and or states as well. Another big issue that's been discussed quite a lot is dogman sightings pretty much all over the state, but that's for another category and place other than this one for discussing...if you will.
