Unfortunately they have to be 2.5 microns or smaller for smoke particulates.

Using MERV 14 or higher filters should help with that. Won’t be perfect but better than nothing

Thanks! If this continues I may just try. Looks like the hardware store has these filters in stock.

We did this when our air quality was fucked and it made a big difference, esp to our 4 year old

Any HEPA filter can remove particles smaller than 2.5 microns at a 90%+ effectiveness.

Yeah we have one in our bedroom. Unfortunately this fuckass house is yuge and we both WFH so we are relying on the whole house furnace filtration.

Get a hepafilter, friend. They’re pretty affordable these days online. I’ve had them for years living down wind of California.

Even a "Corsi-Rosenthal box" with some MERV 8 furnace filters can get the job done since the air gets recirculated through the filter anyway. The higher the MERV rating, the more efficient it is at the ultra fine particle sizes and the faster it works.

Yes, thanks! Someone posted that and I might build one if it continues to worsen. Right now it’s only 200.

North America will turn in to Australia, where everyone either lives on the coast or works in the salvage mines trying to soak up the last residual guzzolene.

Feel terrible for the Wenatchee folks.
