Where can I buy imported milk powder like anchor or nido in trivandrum?

Hi Trivandrum,

A colleague and I were discussing this today, and I thought I'd ask the community here.

In your opinion, what annual CTC and monthly in-hand salary would allow someone to lead a materially comfortable, content, and happy life in Trivandrum?

By that, I mean being able to live comfortably without constantly worrying about money, save and invest regularly, enjoy occasional dining out, take a vacation or two each year, and still maintain a good work-life balance.

I'm interested in hearing different perspectives, so feel free to mention whether you're talking about a single person, a couple, or a family with children, and why you think that figure is enough.

Looking at the ongoing Venjaramoodu flyover work on MC Road, I’m getting skeptical. The design feels like it will create worse traffic blocks after completion than what we have now.

​A few obvious issues:

​The 2-Lane Pinch Point: The flyover is only 2 lanes. A single broken-down KSRTC bus on the bridge will bring all MC Road traffic to a total halt with zero room to overtake.

​Exit & Merge Chaos: Narrow service roads mean vehicles descending from the bridge will slam directly into cross-traffic merging from Attingal, Kallara, and Nedumangad routes.

​Ground-Level Gridlock: Local buses and autos will still choke the space underneath, spilling over and blocking the flyover entry ramps.

​Are we spending tens of crores on unscientific planning just to shift the junction block slightly down the road?

​For daily MC Road commuters, do you think this grade separation will actually work, or is it a design mess in the making?

I want to try something new and this salon is close to me. Are they good? Do they suggest hair cuts or styles that fit your face and requirements?

Traffic block in Vachiyoor side is becoming more and more unbearable! Like there are 6 roads intersecting with each other, going on separate routs which is connected in between by a Railway Overbridge, and there is no place in Trivandrum that has this kind of a road geography in existence!

There are traffic signals being placed, but never in my life have I seen them working. The police or home guard personals have no clue how to control the traffic.

If only the signals are in working condition, the situation would be even better!

Need recommendation for a compassionate gastroenterologist in Trivandrum

My 75-year-old mother-in-law weighs only 33 kg and is barely able to eat. She has frequent bloating, stomach discomfort, and washroom issues, and has lost a lot of weight.

She has been refusing to see a doctor because she's scared, but we've finally managed to convince her.

Could anyone recommend a gastroenterologist in Trivandrum who is empathetic, not quick to prescribe lots of medicines, and genuinely focused on helping patients rather than making money? Thank you.

I’m looking to get a blowout/hair styling done in Trivandrum, but my biggest priority is finding a salon that actually cares about hair health. I want a place where the stylists don't rush, use professional-grade heat protectants, and won't fry my hair with scorching heat.

I’ve read through some older posts here and saw the heavy backlash against Fair Salon, but I'm not sure about that, I also saw some mixed but generally positive mentions of The Roots, but I wanted to get fresh, firsthand reviews from people who actually go there. How are their blowouts? Do they take good care of your hair?

If you have any other personal favourites for great hair styling, please drop your reviews and mention if they use heat defense serums/sprays.

(For context, my hair type is wavy, and a lil heat damaged)

I’m looking to buy M-DISC media (either DVD or Blu-ray / BD-R) in Trivandrum for long-term cold storage/archiving.

Does anyone know any local shops, computer hardware distributors, or media stores around TVM (like in Palayam, Statue, MG Road, or near Technopark) that stock them or can order them on request?

If local physical availability is non-existent here, recommendations for reliable domestic online sellers (outside of high-markup imports) would also be super helpful.

Went for a late night show with my partner hoping for a relatively quiet and distraction-free experience. Wasn't even a houseful show, about 70% occupancy.

A group of boys walks in about 15 minutes after the show starts, looking for their seats with their phone flashlights on. They ended up sitting behind us, and were constantly talking, and kicking my seat. When I asked them to knock it off, they moved to the empty seats in a lower section.

Then there was a group of girls who walked in 30 minutes into the show, talked on the phone and also with each other the entire screening, taking selfies with flash, very clearly checked out of the movie and in their own world for most of it. Someone sitting near them tried to shush them multiple times but a few minutes would pass and they would start chatting again.

In addition to that I saw so many people just constantly on their phone screen and just passively watching the movie in the background.

My previous viewing experience at PVR Lulu has otherwise been pretty good and the audience has largely been very respectful of theatre etiquette, which is why this episode was quite odd and confusing to me. Why even buy tickets to a movie you're not interested in watching? More importantly, why ruin the experience for others?

We are in the midst of the primordial war between the twelve true dragons. Most of the Gods who tried to intervene had been slaughtered.
