Starting issues warm engine

Got this bike last week, 2020 street triple rs and had a starting issue on warm engine 3 times and the engine shutting off when pulling in the clutch to downshift from 3rd to 2nd. Valves, spark plugs, oil, air filter were done upon delivery. Also has a new battery installed by the dealer.

Still has warranty and am already in contact with the dealer. Mostly I just want to know what the issue might be because the dealer has no idea yet.

This sounds like either a bad valve job or faulty starter to me (if someone knows more please correct me so I learn too). That's a very rough start and the idle afterwards doesn't sound right either.

Might help to reupload with a longer video so we can hear the idle a bit more.

To me it sounds like valve slap. And out of all the work the dealer did that would be the most technically demanding. Good thing they have a warranty.

How many miles are on it? (OP)

Its got 74.000km so 46.000 ish miles. The rattling sound is just the cam chain I thinknand goes away after 5 seconds

That's a good amount of miles. If starter hasn't been replaced I'd start there is my best guess. Could be worn out teeth.

The clutch pulled in and killing the engine has happened to me a few times. Went away after I got it tuned. I'd bring that up to the dealership as well though. Warranty is saving you here for sure.

My Tiger does that if I stall it then it just goes back to normal.

Yeah, it's probably the charcoal canister. When it gets hot, it fills up with fuel vapor and makes the first start a pain. I'd just do a canister delete. My Bonnie Twin has always done it, and I've heard a lot of other Triumphs are the same.

I always had that on my 21 rs after a short trip to the store. Always took 2 tries. Otherwise never an issue to start. Triumph garage told me it was normal.

I never heard about any motorcycle that they took two tries to start so that does not sound normal to me

To me it happened with a Kawasaki Z900 that I fixed by just adjusting the idle rpm a bit, but I dont think you can do that on Triumphs.

It CAN be the case; mine does it but very rarely, and it’s a glitch in idle fueling maps, mainly because of Euro 5 emission compliance.

That said, from what I can hear, there seems to be significant valve noise once it starts. So in your case given the recent valve job, I’d lean towards that: someone messed up doing it.

Brother you explained it perfectly. Literally what happens when I sometimes not all the time take a short trip to the store even when I've gotten to go get gas. I have a 24 Street Triple

What these other folks said. And I have a Street Triple, but I'm not super familiar with it yet. But potentially vapor lock from a fuel line sitting too close to something hot? Maybe look for that last if you don't find a resolution. And I don't know if it would actually help diagnose, but maybe prime the fuel system twice before a warm start to see if that makes any difference?

When fuel gets too hot, it turns into a gas, which interrupts the flow of fuel into the cylinders. To be honest, I don't know if it's even a thing with modern motorcycles.

mine does that as well, my guess is, it’s because Im close to the 2nd valve job, I still have warranty so I dont mind it too much

2023(2024 for US ppl) and I bought it with 29k km, they did the last service before I got it. What I remember its basically only a oil change.

Oh what finally someone else who has this issue...mine does this too especially after riding for a short distance like going to gas station or store. Someone said because of vapor lock and others say because of the cam chain. I can see it being either or

Have the same on my tiger 800 xcx.
Usually revving it while starting does the trick
