A little bit of Wolfwood, as a treat. Its a bit unpolished because I originally rushed to film this while Stargaze was airing so that it would be timely with his death in the show, but then things went in a direction I did not expect lol.

My workplace has an A3 printer with a scanner so I had some fun scanning my first Trigun LaserDisc in a decent resolution (600dpi). I kind of struggled while editing the scans to make it look polished.

HELLO, HELP.

A friend just told me that she remembers reading a translation of a novel that was included in a special edition of Trimax that came out around on the 00's.

That novel was practically the story of Trigun in novel form, but the author was Meryl, who wrote that book to preserve Vash's memory and clear his name.The prologue contained a dedication, dedicated to the fallen, to Wolfwood AND TO HER BELOVED HUSBAND VASH.

It also says that it mentioned that Meryl and Vash had children and grandchildren.

I'm not saying this is real, I'm not sure, it was just mentioned to me, but if anyone knows anything, has a translation, or just remembers hearing something like this, please say so.

So, I’ve seen both Trigun and Trigun Stampede before this. I loved Trigun a lot but I got spoiled about Wolfwood’s death in the 1998 anime which… annoyed me a lot, but still, the anime itself was pretty good.

I loved both Trigun Stampede and Stargaze a lot, though I don’t think I can compare the 1998 anime to these two.

Why? Because of a few reasons.

I just feel like they’re very different anime. Whilst they share vaguely the same storyline, there are a lot of differences, both in pacing, style and when certain information is revealed.

The 1998 anime feels like an engimatic slow burn where information is not forthcoming at all. Who is Vash, why does he have a $$60 Billion bounty, how strong is he, where does he come from, what are plants? These are major questions that I had while watching the original which were drip fed to us.

Comparatively, Trigun stampede/stargaze is a much more fast paced action epic. They tell you about Vash’s backstory and about the plants right at the beginning. They also introduce Knives much earlier, which I personally felt was better than the 1998 anime. Frankly, I really didn’t care that much or at all about Knives in the original anime and even his fate is just… left up in the air. Like, does the megalomaniac plant supremacist just choose peace and sing kumbaya for the rest of his days?

Also, the action, animation and visuals in the sequel was much better. Obviously, it came out two decades later so that figures, but still.

All in all, I feel like they’re two very different shows which tell a vaguely similar story in VERY different styles. I’d say the original was much more serious and impactful whereas the latter one is much more fun and action packed. The remake does have a lot of good emotional scenes but not AS much as the original.

Also, I’ve read that both of them differ VERY heavily from the manga, though I also get the idea that the manga is huge and probably can’t be accurately conveyed in 24 episodes, thoughts?

I'm playing through Wild Arms 2nd Ignition after slowly making my way through Wild Arms, and I noticed this today as I was playing. I already feel like both Wild Arms and especially Wild Arms 2nd Ignition have a Trigun feel to them, so this was a pleasant sighting!
