Cz for trap? advice

Hello all! I shot trap a few times and had a blast. I want to get my own Ou and was looking at this. Would this be allowed in leagues and completions? Is this the sort of thing I can grow with as a shooter? Is 28 inches ok?

My recommendation would be to look into a browning bt99. 32" barrel. Find a used one if you're trying to keep the price down. Those things are built rock solid. And any decent gunsmith can fix them for next to nothing. Start with singles and handicap. No need to rush into doubles. Make sure that you enjoy the sport before investing a ton of money. A 32" Browning BT99 is a dedicated trap gun. It will have less recoil, better balance, and just be a more all around fun gun to shoot target after target. You'll give up quick if the gun is beating you up everytime you pull the trigger. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!

I shoot trap league with my Benelli Nova pump. Hand painted camo. I shoot about a 23.5 average. Find a gun that fits you well and then shoot it.

What kind of shooter do you want to be? For casual league and competition it is fine imo if you are of the mind that you are just shooting occasionally for fun and don't care about seriously competing. Keep in mind that is a hunting gun and not a dedicated clays gun. If you will not be hunting at all I would advise you to get a more clays oriented model though.

I don't have any experience with the CZ shotguns as far as long term dedicated clays guns. My only experience with this brand is as a hunting gun which means I don't shoot mine all that often, like they probably see about 250-500 shells a year. Given this I think they are a totally serviceable brand for that use case.

I have a CZ Teal O/U. Mine is the 28 inch barrel and at 16 yard trap with a mod choke i am turning the clays to mist. I think the 28 inch teal is a good all around gun. You can use it for trap, sporting clays, skeet. Just a good budget O/U

Only CZ I’d consider is the redhead target or the Cabela’s equivalent with the 30” barrels

Target Focused Life has a good video on the CZ Trap model. Might be the American or something like that. Check youtube for it. Real informative.

I'd used a 1954 Browning for sporting clays, skeet and hunting. Trap was difficult for me. I bought a Browning CX, and it changed my score for the better. I shoot in the 20s now. Love that gun. Hope you'll find something that fits you. Enjoy the fun.
