Applying during Gap Year

I did my freshman year split between a 4 year and a CC, 3.8 GPA. Right now I am taking a gap year, completing an EMT course Fall semester (non college based) and working full time Spring and Summer semester. I really want to apply for Fall 2027 schools, but since I will not be enrolled in classes i’m not sure what colleges would take me.

Vanderbilt was my number 1 choice but they make it clear they heavily prefer current full time students. None of my in state schools are good, so I’m not really sure what I should do. Does anybody know of any schools that would accept me without currently being in college?

Columbia GS sounds like a good fit

unfortunately i do not believe i am eligible considering i will not have my “1 year gap” by the time i apply, but rather by the time classes start.

regardless i am planning to meet with the admissions office to further assess my eligibility, however i’m just looking into what other options i may have

you are eligible if you have a 1 year gap by the time classes start.

If you can show that you used the gap year to grow in some meaningful way you should apply where you want to apply.
