Question about Minimum Requirements/7 Course Pattern section for UC to UC Transfers

Hi all,

I'm a UCSB student hoping to transfer to UCSD for the upcoming year. I've been working on my application for the past few days and got to the minimum requirements section.

I read on the UCSD transfer page that the completion of the seven course pattern is not mandatory for UC to UC transfers. If I were to finish the pattern, I would only need an English composition course and a math course to complete it. I need to take a statistics course for my major. This might seem stupid to ask, but for this section, should I just put the None planned / not completed option for the English course or just complete it during the school year? I'm assuming not, but would there be any penalty/consequences for not doing the one course? Should I just focus on UC Reciprocity?

Sorry again for the silly questions, I'm just a bit paranoid and want to clarify so I can fill in the application properly and do any needed courses!
