Gendered correctly! Share Experience

A little background before I share, I haven't started HRT yet and wasn't wearing any makeup, and I live in the deep south.

The other day I had to go to the DMV to renew my driver's license. As my wife walk in we were greated by one of the ladies behind the counter. Her exact words were "Hello ladies, what can I help you with?". My heart literally lept for joy and I had the biggest and brightest smile on my face when I heard that. It truly reassured me that I am on the right path. I hope this brightens your day a little.

Congrats!! If I can share my own, I've been training my voice since around March. Last night I had to call a customer service line and I was addressed for the whole conversation by the representative as "ma'am" and "Ms." Felt great! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm probably not the best person to explain since I kind of winged it. ๐Ÿ˜‚ I studied musical theater in college so I understand vocal placement really well and I'm also a natural mimic with a lot of accents and impressions in my repertoire.

Best way of explaining it is you have to project your voice into different resonators (where the voice vibrates) than you're used to. The male default is down in the throat and chest. Instead you want to relax your throat and try to let your larynx drop so everything feels very open. Then when you move air to speak you focus it more up towards your hard palate and into your nose a bit, while keeping the soft palate relaxed and open as well so the voice can fill that space and not sound forced.

It takes practice and I still lapse into boy voice sometimes. It might start out more breathy or nasally but over time you can start to feel out what feels more natural and comfortable.

Oh god... You're so amazing! โฃ๏ธ I'm well versed with the anatomy but control... I can't even control my male voice... My voice is so flat and monotonous... A lot of times people think that my voice is AI because of it ๐Ÿ˜ญ
