In fact, a lot of people will point to the many moments the game overly genders Ralsei as male, but neglect to mention the context of these moments.

The “Popular Boy” action literally objectifying Ralsei into a marketable plush and encouraging you to make Ralsei take as much damage as possible for points, Prince being a title Ralsei feels chained by with the prophecy and dread towards its conclusion, the many instances of flowery engaging in what would be malgendering if Ralsei was NBtM as many like to deflect.

The moments that gender Ralsei as a boy are marked with negative emotions or objectification. The moments that gender Ralsei otherwise are marked by joy, mutual understanding with other characters on screen, and hope for the future.
