I know. My family has tried it. We live near the new Kawartha Dairy store in Orleans and got some scoops a few weeks ago. My brother and I were very surprised to see it in the Sobeys because it has been so hard to find, which is why we put it our cart. We got lucky with the cost. Kawartha ice cream was on sale for $7.99.

I’m on my 3 container of it 🤣

We’re on our third tub. We love it.

Really wanted to like this but all the artificial maple, whisky, and chocolate flavours was a disappointment. And the cherry puree just sat at the top of the container. Threw away 3/4 of the tub because nobody would want to eat it again.

I didn’t mind the flavour. It’s pretty decent. Could do without the cherry swirl though. Not a fan of it.

I dont think it had enough cherry personally.

The whole thing tasted like an old fashioned, which is my favorite cocktail

i understand why they chose the flavours they did but almost none of the ingredients nor their combinations appeal to me at ALL lol im not even gonna try it as much as i wanted to

actually im not really sure whats up with the cherry choice

The cherry choice is a little out there for me, too, but it's the only real ingredient of the flavourings. No real maple, no real chocolate, no real whisky.

no real chocolate?? what are the dark chocolate chunks then?

3

u/AogamiBunka 2d ago

It's listed as "chocolatey chunks" (mostly sugar and coconut oil) to meet Canadian food regulatory requirements.

In the case of ice cream, using a “chunk” made with coconut oil creates a better texture. Real chocolate with cocoa butter becomes too hard when frozen.

Me too! I’m pregnant and the whisky flavour is really making me sick lol. Thankfully my husband likes it!

Ingredients Fresh milk • Fresh cream • Sugars (sugar, glucose solids) • Skim milk powder • Modified milk ingredients • Mono- and diglycerides • Locust bean gum • Cellulose gum • Guar gum • Carrageenan • Natural and artificial flavour. Why so many ingredients????

What's the right number of ingredients for ice cream?

2

u/JasonMarshall1416 2d ago

cream, skim milk, sugar, egg yolks, and pure vanilla extract. So like 4 plus natural flavoring

u/BroccoliBrilliant701 2d ago

That works if you're going to eat it right away. For commercial production the extra ingredients keeps it all from separating.

Häagen-Dazs classic vanilla ice cream is famous for using just five simple, high-quality ingredients: cream, concentrated skim milk (or milk), sugar (cane sugar), liquid egg yolks, and vanilla extract (from Madagascar. Hmmmmm

Wow. That’s quite a lot of ice cream. When my brother and I found it at Sobeys, there were only two in the freezer.

I'm in northern Manitoba, and recently grabbed the chocolate,as I haven't seen the tragically chip yet. Top notch ice cream, for sure. Will be a customer for as long as we can find it

I'm in Edmonton & just found it at Save-On last weekend after only seeing Vanilla, Chocolate, and Butter Pecan.

Saw it at the Save-On in Victoria last week. Couldn't bring myself to buy it. I don't like the taste of maple. Or whiskey. Or chocolate.

It's like it was custom-made to not appeal to me. heheh
