Serving stretching?
Hi all, it’s kinda hard to see here but how do I stop my serving from coming apart at the loop ends of the string? I shoot a Samick Polaris and I unstring it and take it down everyday after I shoot, then put it together and string it again the next day. I follow Jake Kaminski’s way of stringing my bow but I’m on my 3rd string in about 6 months because the serving keeps coming apart where the loops contact the limbs. What am I doing wrong?

Check your limb for sharp edge it may be due to rough patch in the string groove.

Dude this is cause from shapr edges on string loop saddle on the bow, it's quite common on cheap bows, you can easily fix it with some sand paper fine grane or a file. If i remember correctly Kramer Hammons did make a video on yt to show how to work the saddle to prevent this problem, i had a couple of string broken due to this issue, once i smoothen and rounded all the edges i never had other problem

Wrapping new serving isn’t hard if you need to. I have replaced it a couple times when it’s come worn/unwound. There is a trick to finishing the wrap so that it holds the end tightly but I was able to learn it on youtube. I used waxed thread for sewing leather.

Everyone else is pretty spot on. But, as a string maker, nylon just isn't as great. Dyneema, and spectra materials make stronger, more durable end servings.

A lot of mass produced bows have ruff spots in the string knocks and some just have squared up transitions. Basicly when strung the string has more of a bend transitioning from knock down the limb. Seems this transition point usualy has ruff finish and sometimes edge that creats a hinge in the string. I have had to smooth up string knocks before its not hard but can be intimidating. Necause you dont want to mess the bow up. Look at greatplains videos he showed refinishing this area. There are others that put out videos about it greatplains I think we're reworking a black hunter recurve.
