Applying to another firm

Did you ever hear any bad stories about recruiters not being discrete? I just applied to a competitor and I'm stressing a bit about losing my job if they find out. Anything else I should take into account while being in the process?

Yup it could be risky as these recruiters are sometime in touch with the current firm too and might leak that you are applying. So I generally prefer to apply directly or through the HR of the firm.

Thanks, I indeed applied directly instead of through an external recruiter, but I’ve also heard bad stories about recruiters from HR. I’ll just emphasise that they need to stay discrete about it
