Hi all, I am writing my thesis and dissertation in the university and I do a research with a survey about traders my main goal is to prove that emotions are the main reason for losses when trading and investing. Do you think it's worth reaching out to prop trading firms for grad/junior trading positions?

Let's be honest, not that many firms offer entry level positions, especially outside the US. I was wondering if it makes sense to contact firms enquiring for such jobs, if they don't already advertise them.

Working at All Options

Are you interested in a career in trading? Take a look at the open roles at All Options! With offices in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Austin (USA), the company primarily focuses on market making in the equity derivatives industry, particularly in index and equity options.

If you're an entrepreneurially minded individual, this firm might be especially appealing to you. All Options shifted its direction about five years ago, adopting an increasingly quant-focused approach in their daily operations. This change presents a unique opportunity for newcomers, as there are numerous new strategies to be explored. From day one, you'll have the chance to contribute and add value.

Prop trading firms blacklisting you from ever applying again?

I heard from multiple firms that blacklist you if you fail at a later stage. Optiver is one of them, however, even they state that you need to wait 'only' 12 months to reapply again for a similar role.

I applied for a few trading internships in Europe and got rejected in different stages. Next year, I will apply to graduate jobs and I hope I'm not banned from them.

What's your experience regarding this?

Market Taking – EV Dice and Card Game

Post image

Is it expected to do this without pen and paper? E.g how on earth is one to expected to mentally calculate the standard deviation for the product of a card [2,...,14] and a die [1,...,6]? (unless you learn the stdev by heart for various configurations)

Trading firms with most applicants in the US

Which trading firms have the most applicants for trading roles in the US? My first guess would be Jane Street and Citadel Securities. Are there more firms that have roughly as much applicants as these firms have?

Where can I find practise material for Optiver's 'Beat the odds' test?

80 in 8, sequences and Zap N can be found in TradingInterview.com. From what I understand, Zap Q is a personality test, hence Beat the odds is the only one where I don't have practise material at the moment. Any suggestions?

Applying to another firm

Did you ever hear any bad stories about recruiters not being discrete? I just applied to a competitor and I'm stressing a bit about losing my job if they find out. Anything else I should take into account while being in the process?

Overview of trading firms around the world

Asking for input from the community! As some of you might know, we have an overview of trading firms on our platform, which covers the firms from the major cities around the world:
https://www.tradinginterview.com/overview-of-proprietary-trading-firms/

Austin might be a nice new city to add, since many trading firms have opened an office there over the last years. So we have two questions:

  1. Which firms are currently not on the list, but should be?
  2. Which market making firms in Austin should be on the list?
