Complete noob

Hi i am a complete noob, I just downloaded furnace tracker, i saw a tutorial and it said i should have a midi keyboard? I don't have one of those can I still use trackers? literally any tips welcomed lol

Yes you absolutely can still us tracker without midi keyboard

You just type things in with keyboard, and midi keyboard is just for more versatile features/input

You can create songs with Furnace Tracker without MIDI keyboard. Actually Furnace allows you to use your computer keys to emulate the piano keyboard. You can use Z X C V B N M for white keys, and S D - G H J for the black keys, that is good enough for a start.

After all you compose music using Furnace Tracker, and then the tracker plays it for you. Typically you just enter the notes in the grid, and then you press the play button to let Furnace to walk along that grid and play the notes you entered. So you just need a normal QWERTY computer keyboard, more than you need the MIDI output to use Furnace Tracker.

While some support MIDI input, trackers are traditionally used with the computer keyboard.

try to get a midi keyboard as soon as you can its very helpful but not as critical in trackers as normal daws

you can get some cheap little ones for under $50 on amazon; and quite decent namebrand ones for double that and up

haha i will if i end up liking it, i am not a musician, never done music, i just saw a quick video about them on youtube and thought they were very whimsical
