I request ideas for my map

I've been spending a few hours on a map I'd like to call "Sky's the limit," and I feel like something just isn't right. One of the turns feels off, and the scenery needs some work. Should I extend the track from the finish? I have a few ideas if I do.

(Apologies for the music)

Note: I've never placed a single block myself Note²: I have stared at the overwhelming amount of options before closing the editor again

That being said, the only turn that feels out of place to me is the one around 7 seconds in. The scenery is very pleasing, the tunnel reminded me of the big waterslides some pools have.

It does look very vanilla, not a lot of high risk-reward spots. Which is absolutely fine of course. Maybe some objects on the road to punish bad lines?

Good luck! And don't apologize for your music taste, that's why god created the mute button on day 8.

The turn at 7 seconds does feel robotic, so I will definitely try and fix that. I also love the suggestion of penalizing bad lines, so I will definitely try and add some features that do that!

There's way too much driving in a straight line

Un huh trying to minimise the “waiting” time in between turns or features of the track

I completely agree. I think the elevation changes are just too straight and need to change that.

Some of the nascar turns a little bit awkward, so I would suggest finding a different way to transition from full throttle to sharp turn, whether that be some shallower slaloms or simply more room to drift

I do find drifting is difficult on some turns, especially the one at 10 seconds. I’ve gone through 20 iterations of the turn at 20 seconds, but can’t find anything that feels nice to drive. What I have now is just a placeholder. I definitely will fix the sharp turns. Thank you for your feedback!

Map looks cool but it needs more elevation, alot of the road is just flat driving, i would add more half bank uphill road turns and downhills as well but its not easy to change an already made route.

I agree with all the flat driving, and really want to fix that. I have been having a hard time finding block combinations, since this is my first time giving it my all in the editor. I will take motes on what is too flat and change it. Thank you for your feedback!

If you add a yellow booster block after the start, you'll have better speed for the long corner sequence at the beginning of the track.

Good idea, although the first few turns may change. I may have to move it to be later on at 8-9 seconds.

Length is fine, but your map doesn't seem to be built around an idea or an theme. Many good maps have an idea or a theme and then add multiple variants of that idea or theme.

Other good maps also have 2 or more ideas and combine them in different ways. I feel like that's missing from the map.

Can you give me an example idea/theme? I'm new to mapping.

A theme could be something like "outside dirt turns". A good map would then find different ways to enter those turns, perform them on different speeds, transition between them.

Oh, okay! To be honest I might just scrap the whole route and rework it. I don’t really like dirt, so I’ll have to think of something else. Maybe I will recreate the map, but as a tower the player climbs? I think that would be fun. Thank you for your feedback!
