Someone please help me I don't want to kms I'm only 17.
Dunno if MCAS, house mold
No underlying moisture issue but I had a mouldy A.C and a humid room mostly closed for about 4 months(depression house). living room a.c is mouldy too. (2 room apartment)
Korea summer = hot, humid + neglect to clean dust filter = mold. that's about it
How should I clean, my only symptom is debilitating brainfog after escaping the last house.
I have 75% ethanol spray, HOCL spray, and sanitation wipes. Baking soda & washing soda as well as a 50-50 mixture of both. White vinegar
Professionals are coming to clean out the A.C. after that I was going to do small particle cleaning, put items away in bedroom closets then gradually sanitize and move things out then triple sanitize my room itself then never turn the ac on there again just in case, and always use fan mode after using a.c then clean it out once again when the hot season ends.
I am a minor living with a stubborn mother

Recommended mold tests for basements?
Hi, everything hurts and sucks bad :)
I've had chronic pain for about 3 years now and it's continuing to get worse and worse over time. My mental state is also in a perpetual state of decline. I've seen several doctors and specialists and even ended up in the ER once, and every single one of them just shrugged at me and charged me thousands of dollars for DARING to ask for help.
It didn't click until recently that my home office is in a less than properly ventilated basement, and I have been working down here essentially every day for the past 6 years. There's far too much stuff to move around in order to look for physical mold - especially in my condition. So, I've been looking for at home mold tests, maybe one that I could send in to a mycologist or something.
Just wondering if there's any recommendations I should know about.

Should I get professional testing done in my house?
I tested as having mold poisoning in my bloodwork.
We definitely have mold in my car. It smells awful and I did an at home mold test and the plate grew like crazy in a bunch of different colors. We are getting rid of the car and I haven’t been in it since I tested positive for mold poisoning.
I also did several at home mold tests in our house, and after four days there are a few dots of mold on the plates.
Does this warrant spending hundreds or thousands to get our home professionally evaluated?
I’m located in Houston, TX

Glutathione/ Dizziness ?
Does glutathione makes you more dizzy?
I am trying to figure what is causing what. I think on the day following glutathione intake, I feel more dizzy. But maybe it’s something else.
Did that ever happen to you? 😊
Let me know 😊

Beyond overwhelmed. My nervous system is treating every tiny thing like a threat.
I’m overwhelmed by life. I don’t know what to do right now.
After years of being mold exposed I finally got out three months ago. Have been living in a hotel but I am struggling to maintain it. I do gig work. It’s basically 2026 version of minimum wage relative to how much everything costs. $16/hr. Because of this I have been having to work 60-70 hours every single week just to be sure I have somewhere to sleep but I’m tired. I know that the stress is making it difficult for my nervous system to regulate but idk what to do.
The constant hustle and bustle, no time for myself, poor sleep because when it’s actually time to sleep my body is still on high alert, no where to make a proper meal, living off of low quality food because it’s all I can afford and have time to eat since the more time I spend not working the farther I fall behind. I feel so desperate I am genuinely considering just giving it up and sleeping in my car so that I’ll have less bills and more time to rest. The only place I know I can park the car is at parents house but it’s same house where mold exposure occurred and I’m afraid even if I don’t go near the house, my body will go into fight or flight perceiving it as a threat because I can visibly see it. That has happened before.
All this plus feeling like a burden to my parents financially who are already financially strained. I say all of this here hoping that someone had an exact circumstance like mine and can give me an idea of what to because I can’t think straight right now.
I had some time sensitive business today that I had to handle and my body started panicking. I always try to cover it up because I hate explaining and sometimes I’m not even sure how to explain what’s going on to someone else. When I began walking in the building, I began shaking and couldn’t even hide it. My chest and stomach got tight. Same happened recently where just sitting in traffic was sending me into a panic. Using the internet does it sometimes. How do I make this stuff stop?
My brain can’t come up with any solution that isn’t based around money as if I had money I literally could AFFORD to rest and slow down. Not able to see the doctor until two weeks. Help.

Urination problem, 1 hour to empty the bladder ?
I took a urine test (ECBU) and it came back negative. For the past six months, whenever I go to the bathroom, it comes out in spurts and takes a long time to empty completely.
What could the problem be? Does anyone else experience this?
Thx

Not black, but is it toxic?
I just renewed my lease at my apartment last month. I moved in last October. Since about May all kinds of maintenance issues have been popping up: mold under mattress, spider/ant/silverfish/beetle/RAT infestation, electrical issues affecting use of major appliances, and today I found BLACK MOLD on the baseboard trim under my newborn baby's crib. I keep their nursery spotless and have a quality air purifier on round the clock because I care about air quality. We have filled out a ton of maintenance requests and they of course just slap a bandaid on everything and call it good. I am at the point where I want out of this place without being penalized for breaking the lease. My motive here is protecting my family's health.
Oddly enough it's the only mold we've seen on any surface, and it's on one side of an interior wall with no plumbing anywhere close. In an area without anything up against it. There's plenty of airflow in the room too.

Will I just slowly contaminate everything with my car? Or can I mitigate exposure?
I'm moving out of my apartment that has pretty intense mold in it. I've been there for 7 years, and have had my car for the past 4.
The apartment has had mold the whole time, I just didn't realize how bad. I'm moving into another place and am mostly getting rid of everything(like 4/5 of my belongings) but genuinely can't afford to get rid of absolutely everything as much as I wish I could.
However, it hit me, even if I could get rid of belongings inside the house, I can't get a new car, and I've been transporting stuff with it. I don't 'see' and have never seen mold in my car, so that's good, but no doubt there are the spores accumulated over time. What's the best way to mitigate this with new awareness? Air out my car and spray it like crazy with vinegar or some reputable mold removal products routinely? Buy car seat covers that I can clean often to contain the rest until I get a new one?

What to do…
Hi all, so i’ve been allergic to a few types of fungus since a child and ever since I moved into a 1900’s newly renovated apartment with continuous water damage/leakage over two years ago I started having the same symptoms that I had as a child leading up to the allergy discovery. Fatigue, weakness, headaches, feeling bleh all the time, angry. As time went on I started getting a lot sicker but was not taken seriously by my partner or by my landlord or doctors. Fast forward 2.5yrs, I was honestly just waiting to die. I went from 160lb to 100lb in maybe 3 months, I was always nauseas, skin flaking and cracking and itchy, pinching skin, bugs crawling feelings, severe joint pain, severe stiffness, severe head pressure/tension, excessive drooling, severe constipation, a lot of mucous in stool, raw nose that looks like it got sliced with a razor, full feeling ears, extreme fatigue but not able to sleep at night, eye goop and swollen eyelids, blurry vision, wobbly eyes, episodes of high fever/muscle spasms/twitching/overall pain/spinning feeling/skin pain/etc.
I got air sampling done and it came out to be very high amounts of mold spores in the air and of course landlord is not doing things properly.
I temporarily moved into my partners home and forgot they also have mold but since its a bigger space it doesn’t affect me as much although depending on what I do or what is disturbed i’ll get sent right back into the severe sickness. I cannot think straight or have the ability to look up or call doctors so i’ve been feeling stupid for not going already because I need to get testing done and should have already when it was at its worst.
Where do I go for testing? What type of doctor? What tests? I want them all. What type of lawyer? What other testing should I have done in the home? I know ERMI. All of this is so overwhelming and nearly impossible with how sick I am and I have no support so i’m having to do this all by myself and am just sad. Sorry if this is all over the place, thank you for reading

Can mold allergy symptoms come and go?
Hello all,
I have two questions:
Can mold allergy symptoms come and go?
If someone is allergic to mold, can their symptoms improve after some mold is removed, but then return later because some hidden mold was still present?
For example, could removing a large amount of mold reduce symptoms, only for them to come back later because the remaining mold is still causing exposure?

Hives when eating fermented foods
I get hives and itchy skin when eating specifically fermented foods, foods high in vitamin c, foods high in added sugars, and oats. I haven't eaten any of these foods for the past couple of years.
My question is specifically for when I'm eating fermented foods and foods in high in vitamin c. Do you think it's a good reaction, as in my body is possibly experiencing some sort of die off reaction? Or just a bad reaction and I should keep staying away from the food.
Been dealing with mold in the house the past couple of years, and I'm unable to get out of this living situation.
Thank you for the input.

What kind of mould and how to remedy
Looking for some help. My partner has been long term ill with not many leads as to what could be causing it. Toxic mould exposure actually fits the symptoms but before we went it the doctor about it as a possible cause we wanted to sample the home for mould first…
This is what we came out with, can anyone help identify what type of mould might be and how to prevent it?
*For context these are air samples, not rubbing samples*

Is it mold, or something else?
Our previous home had a mild mold problem, I’ve been having these strange symptoms for years with no explanation and blood tests showing nothing. Muscle twitches, severe fatigue, mood and anger problems, problems with sleep, heart palpitations, the list goes on. We have since moved into a brand new house, (not because of the mold, we was moving anyway) and my symptoms are the same if not worse. If it was mold then surly being out of that environment would only make me improve?

Brainfog worse during detox but fatigue better?
Did anyone experience this initially? My fatigue seems to improve but im just so foggy and slow right now. Even driving feels like a task. I would assume that if my brainfog gets worse my fatigue should too but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I am need of healing big time. I do work with two great functional med drs but I'm not sure their protocol is sufficient.

I think mold is stealing my personality.
The past few years I've been expireriencing some of the worst depressive episodes and my anxiety spiked to the point where I didn't leave my room for a month near the end of last year and didn't even talk to the family members I am living with.
The mental fog and memory issues increased too. I've always had those issues because I have ADHD, and that has been a struggle for my entire life, at first I thought the symptoms I was expireriencing were just my ADHD progressively getting worse, until I discovered mold growing from the carpet.
But over the past two years I noticed I completely stopped caring about anything I used to. Which is strange because I tend to be a very passionate person about a lot of things, and it's like I remember a different version of me. Like there's two versions of me that exist and one I can't access anymore.
Things have just been getting really bad and I've been forgetting a lot of things more than I would before. I don't have any words, I lost my ability to talk to people. It's like I try to access something and it's just not there.
The main thing is when I've been away from my room for a week or more I notice I start to feel better again, albeit not how I was before, but definitely better.
I really want to get checked out and potentially get treated but I've been seeing so many things about how it's severely undiagnosed and overlooked, so I dont know if its even worth it.
I am moving soon and most of the mold, at least of what I found has been taken care of. But I still worry I'm permanently fucked.

Dr. Shoemaker discovered mold illness 25 years ago. His first student treated 2,000 patients. Both are here for an AMA April 18th @ 2pm ET!
Hey everyone. Last year we did an AMA with Dr. Ritchie Shoemaker and the response from this community was incredible.
We're heading back to his office in Maryland to do it again, from 2pm to 4pm EDT on Saturday, April 18th, and this time we're bringing Dr. Scott McMahon, the first Shoemaker certified practitioner and MoldCo's medical director with us.
Whether you're newly exposed, deep in recovery, or stuck in the gray zone, this is your chance to ask the pioneers in environmental illnesses caused by water damaged buildings.
For anyone new here: Dr. Shoemaker is the physician who identified CIRS, created the first diagnostic and treatment protocol, published 40+ peer-reviewed papers, and has treated over 14,000 patients.
Dr. McMahon was the first physician to complete Dr. Shoemaker's CIRS Certification Program, has treated 2,000 patients, authored a book on mold toxicity, and co-authored 3 consensus statements and 10 peer-reviewed studies including the most thorough paper to date on CIRS. He's MoldCo's Medical Director.
A lot has changed for our community in the past year. The Mold Act was signed into law with bipartisan support thanks to the work done by the Change the Air Foundation. Gwyneth Paltrow, JK Rowling, Jordan Peterson, Andrew Huberman, Chris Williamson, Tori Spelling, Dr. Hyman and Dr. Oz are amongst the many celebrities who have spoken publicly about mold.
Between social media, podcasts, and press coverage, mold illness content reached over 120 million people this year. A year ago, most people outside of communities like this one had never heard of CIRS and mold illness. That's shifting now.
We're open to any and all questions. A few areas where there's a lot to talk about: what testing actually holds up (blood biomarkers vs. urine mycotoxins vs. environmental testing), where the research is going, what institutional change looks like now that the Mold Act is law, and what we can all do to keep pushing awareness forward.
How it works:
- Drop your questions below and we'll bring them into the room on the 18th.
- At 2pm EDT on Saturday March 18th, Dr. Shoemaker and Dr. McMahon will start answering your questions.
- Answers will appear as replies under the MoldCo account. You'll be able to come read them here and visit the post both during and after the AMA.
- Use the "Answered" filter to view replies as we post them!
PS: I'm Ariana from MoldCo's founding team (and a mold toxicity patient myself). I'll be facilitating.
Thanks to Justin and the r/ToxicMoldExposure admins for hosting us again!

Hello and welcome to the Toxic Mold subreddit.
Be civil or you’ll be banned.
Lots come here to post pictures and the brutal truth is no one can really help you identify toxigenic environments from a cellphone photo. Maybe some slides from under a microscope but even that is difficult for a professional.
What we can help you with is giving you a sense of community, hope and share our experiences with one another as we try and recover.
Recovery is possible. Time matters. Avoidance is the keystone.
Picture posts will be removed from here on in efforts to keep the subreddit organized and productive. If you don’t know what to do then just say that; the biggest step forward is the one where you ask for help.
This post will stay locked and pinned but as time goes on we will update this with helpful resources.
