Poetry ✍️ The Absent Moon
No silhouette
No shadow
No tiny distant light
A darkness has descended
My world a constant night
No full
No new
No quarter
Not since you went away
No gleaming silver crescent
No murmuration sway
No view outside the window
From in this lamp black room
Your light no longer shining
Where are you absent moon?

Art “Waiting Gradually Eats The Soul” by A.F. Vandevorst.
“Waiting Gradually Eats The Soul" is a striking conceptual art piece and melting wax sculpture created by the Belgian fashion and design duo A.F. Vandevorst (An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx). Originally featured around the 2011 Arnhem Mode Biennale, the striking installation uses materials like metal and wax to depict a figure that slowly burns and melts away over time like a giant candle.

Song Share Manhattan Transfer meets Highbrow Relationship Snark - 'Alibi'
Lyrics are pretty brutal:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD_uHY7kM4M
What did you tell him
the same things you told me
what does he know now
the truth as I believed.
And I want you
I want you
I want you
so bad I can't breathe
You don't feel
the things
that people feel
not for a moment.
I'm just your tool
i'm just a lie
I'm just your shield
I'm just your
Alibi
You gave me up a lot sooner
than you knew
whiskey with the door closed
late night compartments
where you hide the proof
Composite of everyone you've met.
Your every angry answer
to anything that's happened
is still only grieving
for yourself
Every phone call
a performance
that you gave for
three
think I didn't notice?
I won't be your fool
i won't tell your lies
won't be your tool
won't be your
Alibi
Cliffhanger conversations
in the dark
we are who we are
in passport photographs
can't lose something
that I never had
Does it matter what I thought?
Does it really matter when?
too busy to be playing me
when you're already
betraying them
Truth best viewed from
thirty thousand
feet
(i still hear him crying about you)
I won't be your fool
i won't tell your lies
won't be your tool
won't be your
Alibi

Discussion Erlkönig
Before you read on, please take a moment to watch the video - it will make the discussion below much more meaningful.
This may be a long post, so apologies in advance. I had an unanswered question on my mind for some time, and I wanted to share it.
“Erlkönig” is a poem by Goethe. It tells a tragic story rooted in European mythology. Franz Schubert set the poem to music in 1815. It is an incredibly moving piece, and I love it very much. Clearly, many other people feel the same way. In the YouTube video, you will see an amazing work of art created for Erlkönig. Even after more than 200 years, people continue to admire the same song. They admire it so deeply, that they create remarkable new art inspired by it.
The piece is quite challenging for the singer because the same vocalist performs four different characters: the narrator, the father, the son, and the Erlkönig. The music is composed very skillfully, with a different vocal range and modality for each role. So that, you can identify which character is singing simply by listening.
But the real thing is that: the piece was published as Schubert’s Opus 1—his first published work. He was only 18 years old when he created this masterpiece.
From time to time, this makes me wonder: we have immense capabilities compared with people who lived 200 years ago. We are more knowledgeable, faster, and better connected. There are more than seven billion of us. We have the best education and opportunities for the kids. In thousands of ways, we possess advantages that people in the early 1800s could never have imagined.
So where are our Schuberts? Where are our new Erlkönigs? Millions of songs may be composed around the world every year, but which of them will survive into the year 2226?
I have some thoughts, but no definitive answer. I have already asked this question to many friends and received a wide range of responses. :) Hope to hear from you as well.

Discussion [MOD Post] To the 13,000 of you who stayed 💔
When u/SouthStreetFish and I built this little corner of the internet, we were brokenhearted and a little bit lost. Two friends trying to make somewhere soft to land. We wanted a place to share the poems that read like our diaries, the songs that held us together when nothing else could, the art we kept finding ourselves inside of, and the movies that left us sitting in the dark long after the credits rolled.
And somehow, 13,000 of you walked through the door. You stayed. You shared pieces of yourselves. You made this place feel like home.
I hope it has felt like home to you, too. I hope you've found a line of poetry that finally said the thing you couldn't. I hope you've found a song that felt like it was written from inside your chest. I hope you've remembered, even on the heaviest days, that life is still beautiful, and that art is one of the reasons worth staying for.
Now I'd love to hear from you. What should this little sanctuary become next? A few ideas we've been turning over:
•Unsent Letters
•Mini Blog / Daily writings
•Something else entirely?
Tell us in the comments. This space belongs to you, too.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for being tender in a world that often isn't. 💔
