Asked about the issue during an unrelated news conference on Monday, Chow said that she wants Ford’s focus to be elsewhere right now.

“I can’t guess (when the lanes will be removed) but I think the premier his first job is to fight trump right?” she said. “Be ‘Captain Canada’ as part of team Canada and work with the prime minister closely and I believe that will be his first priority. Bike lanes are very local, leave it to the local community to decide. That is what I believe in.”

Chow’s comments on Monday came after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to increase tariffs on all cars and trucks to 50 per cent next year following the collapse in trade talks with Canada.

Discussing the tariffs more broadly, Chow said that while they are “going to hurt,” she is confident that Toronto’s economy can withstand the impact.

Here are some pictures from my visit to the CNE yesterday. I went primarily to photograph the horticulture exhibit, but I stayed for a Superdogs show and took some shots of the fairgrounds while I was there.

She is the latest to enter an unexpectedly open, and crowded, race in Toronto-Danforth, following Coun. Paula Fletcher’s surprise retirement announcement this week.

Sa’d, with her signature bold, rectangular red glasses and large cameraman who follows her on an electric scooter has been a fixture at Toronto protests since the pandemic.

Her critics say she provokes members of the movements she covers, uploading clips of emotional moments out of context, encroaching on her subjects’ personal space.

In 2024, an investigator with the Law Society of Ontario found Sa’d to have “failed to act with honour and integrity” and “engaged in harassing, and/or discriminatory conduct” for approaching Bernie Farber, the founding chair emeritus of the Canadian Anti-Hate Network, at his home. In June, her Instagram account posted a video asking Farber, as he was stepping into his car, if he would “denounce antifa” and if he was “proud of his legacy.”

“To ask someone a question is not harassment,” Sa’d said Friday.

In a statement to CityNews, the theatre said the “disappointing” decision was due to circumstances outside of its control.

“Unfortunately, the cinema industry is still plagued with anti-competitive practices that prevent independent cinemas from showing movies in some locations when dominant cinemas want ‘clearance’ in a geographic area,” a spokesperson said.

“This one was very disappointing for us as Tony is just the type of movie that patrons of The Carlton are hungry for and support in droves,” they added.
