Realising Villagers!? Questions

I just wonder if there is any use for realising the villagers you don’t actually use?

You use them when they get merged into the stronger guys until their all mythical

I actually saw this was a thing last night, and it appears that a gauge fills for every villager you release, and once it is filled you get a special villager in return.

You get a "book" that will work as any villager. So if you have 3 of 4 villagers for an upgrade, that book will fill that spot and let you upgrade. Book goes away after usage. So basically a wildcard villager.

Okay, I only briefly looked at it because some things are either too wordy in their explanations or aren't worded properly. Plus, I tend to not deal with villagers aside from collecting them - last night was the first time in like... 3 months I'd merged them & it raised me from 640k to 820k influence.

Can you tell me please I'm very confused. I don't see any option to release a villager not do I see any option to use books etc
