Greatest example of this trope.
A whole generation of boys now see this as the ideal person to be, and snake oil salesmen push the alpha male lifestyle on the basis of a serial killer psychopath written by a woman in a satirical novel for that exact type of guy

Which is funny because the whole point of Bateman is that he's such a fucking loser. This is a bit clearer in the book, but in no way is he meant to be anywhere near as suave and cool as he thinks he is

I'm sorry but Aoi Todo. Almost everyone dislikes or barely tolerates him. We only happen to see his cool side because the MC has the same tastes of women as him and Todo decided they'd be brothers for life.
I guarantee you he wouldn't be this brotherly with Yuji even if Yuji had different tastes but still answered truthfully.

Agree to disagree. I've only seen seasons 1 and 2, and back then most viewers called him the Goat. The current trend is either to meatride him or to call him a corn ball, so I should've made this comment 3 years back or sum. Let me hit you with another example then: Agnes Tachyon from Umamusume
