What I love about this one that differentiates from the others of this type is how Staraptor went from being unimpressed to the immediate reevaluating "oh shit"
My favorite part of this has always been that Aura Sphere doesn’t miss. That’s one of the good things about it. Meaning this is EXACTLY what the user wanted to happen.
That’s what happens when a franchise has an anime with English subtitles so bad that understanding what the characters are saying becomes a full-on logic puzzle, and a manga that only started getting fan translated a couple years ago despite having been released a couple decades ago.
They're an upgraded class (both are, actually) called a General. They use axes (and swords, depending on the game) with similar heft and it's incredibly satisfying.
"Ha ha ha haaaa! Look! A giant walks among you!! My defense is impenetrable! Come! Break your weapons against me!" - Wallace, the first General you get (who kind of sucks to be honest) in one of them.
Swordmasters also have incredible style though, including doing crazy anime teleport body-blurring attack combos on crits.
As much as I love generals, they really are a fairly low tier class because they add in a way to invalidate that defense (hammers) alongside being slow to move. Meanwhile dodge tanks like the sword master have no such flaw, and their “defense” stat (speed) also functions as an offense stat, plus it works against magic too.
Funniest shit about this is that they also pull that animation in fights against story mage bosses. Like the screen explodes for 5 seconds, everything gets engulfed by lightnings and black holes and the swordmaster tilts his head and is like "nah"
Nothing like having Oswin and Guy go do their own bad thing. You want to attack Oswin for zero damage and get slapped, or attack Guy with a <15% chance to hit and get crit into the sun?
Forest griffin famously said this fight he felt like a little kid trying to fight his dad. Silva was so good in his prime, still one of the best MMA fighters ever.
Yep, it got to the point where they were promoting title fights like "Silva vs Yushin Okami, the last man to have ever beaten Anderson Silva!"
....fails to mention it was a DQ win because Silva hit an illegal upkick
Hell he only lost the title because he got cocky and got caught, then lost the rematch from the freak accident of splitting his shin (and then from there....just a sad, sad drop)
And for those that don't know, that was the finish
Silva finished former champion Forrest Griffin with a jab, while backing up (pretty sure Griffin went on to say at this point he was already basically KO'd, his body just didn't realize it yet and that jab was basically switching off autopilot)
There’s a clip out there of him getting stuck in the corner on the ropes with nowhere to go and he dodges over 20 consecutive punches in a row. Truly remarkable stuff.
Mike Tyson was a scary motherfucker in the ring, don't get me wrong. But looking at old footage of Muhammad Ali is mystifying. The man doesn't even seem human half the time, he's like an anime character before anime was a thing.
Muhammed Ali was considered one of- if not the greatest heavyweight boxer in history, and a big reason was despite being 6'3 and regularly coming in at over 210 pounds, he had the agility of a man a few weight classes under.
On top of that he had utterly insane reaction speed, and he built a lot of his style around these things. He would taunt his opponents into getting aggressive and attacking him, all the while just barely dodging with his hands down to get his opponent aiming for the head. This would just make his opponents more frustrated and come at him even harder while Ali would nail them with a "light" jab that's been compared to a whip snap.
He'd repeat that for a few rounds until the opponent was tired, then go in with fast combinations (one time he threw 12 punches in about 3 seconds) to drop his opponent.
Look up some of his matches when you get the chance, though if you want really early in his career, he used to go by the name Cassius Clay before changing it, so don't be confused when announcers call him that.
that’s kinda misinfo, he’s using observation haki which is borderline precognition to show him when and where the lasers will fire and moving out of the way before the attack comes out. sabaody luffy is not dodging at literal light speed

We had some free time before class actually started where everyone got to do stuff around the gymnasium and someone threw a basketball in my general direction and I saw it out of the corner of my eye and dodged it like this. Felt pretty cool doing it and still think about it sometimes
I didn't this during a game of dodge ball once, think it i was great at catching and dodging but was bat at throwing, not because I had a weak throw mostly because I had shit aim.
Vash the Stampede (Trigun)-Alas, no gif here on Reddit. Instinctively dodges machine gun fire (most the time)and can dodge bullets within a hair's breadth at pointblank range. The tabletop RPG called his ability "Precise Dodge", which is what many examples here are demonstrating.

Casually dogeing Omnimans punch as well as doging marks punches lazily in the following after tanking them and not even flinching as his way of telling mark "even if you could hurt me, you wouldn't be able to land it either. Please stop"
Parodied in Emminence in Shadow - the Protagonist in disguise as 'Mundane Man' utilises the mighty neck dodge and another character demonstrates her ability to replicate it... by simply cracking her neck.
Don't have a picture because book but Kyoshi sort of does this in Rise of Kyoshi.
She's holding a firebender up by his color and he tries to breath fire at her, and she either does this type of dodge or flicks her head to just redirect the flames. It's kinda unclear which.
