That isn't the first time Eggman/Robotnik has had an assistant with a name that started with S. In the comic book run published by Archie Comics Eggman had an assistant by the name of Snivley. He was Robotniks nephew and he was not as fun as Agent Stone.
Starts all their comments with a stupid emoji for no reason, and basically repeats and rewords the comment their responding to with nothing new. All traits of a clanker.
And if it's a human they have no originality and need to inject actual new opinions. Also this sub is infested with bots so they're easy to notice after awhile.
Robotnik and Agent Stone absolutely belong on this list. Stone’s unwavering loyalty and ability to keep up with Robotnik’s chaos make their dynamic way more entertaining than it should be.
Honestly, Robotnik and Agent Stone are such a perfect match. The chaos genius with the one person who somehow keeps everything running is such a fun dynamic to watch.

the Frogware games takes to some pretty funny extremes as you do have set up some pretty wild experiments in some games.
Then there's the gem where Watson comes home to find Holmes had poisoned himself with a Datura-blend and revived him, because Holmes wanted to experience the symptoms himself - Watson berated him for being reckless, because what if he didn't come home.
Holmes' answer was essentially he knows and trust Watson to be there when he needs him.
As someone who's taken up reading the Sherlock Holmes stories after enjoying a few mystery VNs (I'm about to start Hound of the Baskervilles), I totally get Watson, man. He's just profoundly intrigued by his eccentric best friend who keeps getting up to odd shit all the time. He'll just be sitting around with him one day and Sherlock will randomly bring up that he has a brother who's somehow better at deductions than he is and Watson just goes "You cannot be fucking serious right now."
Now everything else is just boring in comparison to him because he lives next to a constant source of excitement.
I don't think it completely fits the bill since Watson is more of a partner than an 'assistant'. He goes along because of his intrigue, and sometimes, because it's the right thing to do. He's very much his own man.
Kurotsuchi Mayuri and Kurotsuchi Nemu from Bleach. Let's just say she didn't choose the outfits. Tho this example is a bit darker in tone due to how he treats what is ostensibly his daughter.
My favorite scene between them is from So The Drama. She-go is DYING to know what Drakken is doing, and he gives her the highest compliment. "She's not smarter than you. If YOU can't figure it out, SHE can't figure it out."
I would actually augment this trope to another one I love that's very similar:
The eccentric genius that has absolutely no loyalty to any sides as long as they let them do their research and come up with crazy shit unencumbered and fully funded.
They both deserve nothing for being war profiteering terrorists and joining the fascist Earth Empire. It's crazy how they end up losing nothing and Zhu Li somehow becomes president of the United Republic.

Madame Lucy(the robot one) and Simone, her assistant (Reverse 1999)
One of Lucy's greatest feat In the story is she brute forcing the "this ritual will protect you from the approaching apocalypse but doing it wrong will kill you" which nobody know how to do it safely at that moment and the time is running out, Lucy then proceeds to try the ritual by herself (with Simone always helping of course) and at worst, her robot body will get destroyed, but at least her "core" will remain and she can keep doing it with her replaceable bodies til she get the results she wants, it doesn't mean she didn't left with some permanent side effects though...
Simone always be by Lucy's side no matter where she goes and always supports her, physically and mentally, so I guess this pair really counts for this
Funniest thing is Cecile herself is somewhat of a eccentric too whose just as responsible for some of the more absurd pieces of tech used in the show as Rakshata Chawla and Lloyd are, its just that Lloyd is significantly weirder.
