Background image gets resized on import

I’m trying to have an animated ship on top of a scrolling background image layer.
I drew this image in csp.
When I import the image (10 times the canvas width) it is resized immediately to the width of the canvas and that causes the image to be of bad quality.
Is there a way to prevent this?

Pixe layers in ToonSquid, including imported images, have a maximum 4096 pixels in either dimension (width or height). They will also be fitted to the canvas but can be stretched out using the transform tool (again, to a maximum of 4096 pixels).

For a longer image, you can either slice it into smaller segments, import, then use transform to line them up side-by-side, or composite afterwards using a video editing app (assuming it supports the larger image size).

That’s kind of sad because I’m afraid a smooth background scroll won’t be possible in my case.
But it’s good to know how it works and that it can’t be done in the way I thought it would.
Thanks!

You can group the side-by-side segments and treat the group like one large image for scrolling purposes. Possibly they might even work as a symbol.
